Chapter 29 - The System’s Verdict

The System had been silent.

For too long.

No notifications.

No quests.

No warnings.

Nothing.

And that—

Was wrong.

Kael stood still in the center of the training hall.

Empty.

Silent.

Waiting.

"…You're thinking the same thing."

Yoo Sera's voice came from behind.

"…It's watching."

Kael didn't turn.

"…No."

A pause.

"…It's deciding."

Silence followed.

Because that—

Was worse.

Hours passed.

Nothing changed.

Then—

Without warning—

It happened.

A sharp sound.

Not external.

Not physical.

Internal.

[—SYSTEM ERROR DETECTED—]

Kael's eyes opened instantly.

"…There it is."

The message didn't disappear.

It expanded.

[ANOMALY CONFIRMED][DESIGNATION: KAEL DRAVEN][STATUS: UNDEFINED]

Yoo Sera stepped back slightly.

"…This isn't normal…"

No.

It wasn't.

Because this—

Wasn't a system message meant for a user.

This was—

A system speaking to itself.

[INITIATING EVALUATION PROTOCOL]

The air froze.

Not physically.

Conceptually.

Kael felt it instantly.

"…So this is your move."

The shadows around him stirred—

Not aggressively.

Alert.

The room flickered.

Walls—

Gone.

Floor—

Gone.

Everything—

Gone.

Replaced by something else.

A white space.

Endless.

Empty.

"…Another domain…"

But this one—

Was different.

It wasn't dark.

It wasn't alive.

It was—

Perfect.

Too perfect.

[EVALUATION BEGINNING]

A figure appeared.

Not distorted.

Not incomplete.

Perfectly defined.

A humanoid shape—

Made of light.

"…An executor…"

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"…Or something pretending to be one."

The figure spoke.

"You are not recognized."

Kael smirked faintly.

"…I've heard that before."

"You exist outside assigned parameters."

"…And?"

A pause.

"Correction is required."

Silence.

Then—

Kael laughed.

"…You really think you can 'correct' me?"

The white space trembled slightly.

Not from power.

From contradiction.

The figure moved.

Instantly.

No buildup.

No warning.

It was in front of him—

Hand extended—

And struck.

Kael blocked.

The impact—

Didn't explode.

Didn't echo.

It simply—

Connected.

And that alone—

Was terrifying.

"…No energy output…"

Kael's eyes sharpened.

"…Pure execution."

The figure moved again.

Faster.

More precise.

Every strike—

Perfect.

No wasted motion.

No hesitation.

A machine.

No—

Something beyond a machine.

Kael stepped back once.

Just once.

"…Interesting."

The shadows around him rose slowly.

"…You're not like the others."

The figure didn't respond.

It attacked again.

But this time—

Kael didn't block.

He let it hit.

The strike landed directly—

And passed through him.

Silence.

The figure paused.

For the first time—

It hesitated.

Kael's body reformed behind it.

"…You don't understand me."

A faint smile.

"…That's your first mistake."

The shadows surged.

Not outward—

Inward.

Condensing.

Becoming something—

Else.

"…Let's try something new."

The space around them warped slightly.

Not breaking.

But bending.

Adapting.

The figure turned.

"Irregular behavior escalating."

"…Good."

Kael stepped forward.

"…Try to keep up."

The clash resumed.

But this time—

It wasn't one-sided.

The perfect execution—

Met the undefined anomaly.

Precision—

Versus unpredictability.

Order—

Versus chaos.

Each collision distorted the space further.

The white world—

Wasn't as stable as it seemed.

Cracks began to form.

Thin at first.

Then spreading.

"Containment failing."

The figure's voice changed slightly.

Not emotion.

Adjustment.

Kael's eyes darkened.

"…Yeah."

A step forward.

"…Because you're not evaluating me."

The shadows surged violently—

For the first time—

Uncontrolled.

"…You're being forced to understand me."

The figure stopped.

Just for a moment.

And that moment—

Was enough.

Kael's hand reached forward—

And touched it.

Directly.

The white light flickered.

Violently.

The entire space shook.

[CRITICAL ERROR]

The message echoed everywhere.

[ANOMALY INTERFERENCE DETECTED]

Kael's smile widened.

"…Too late."

The cracks spread rapidly now—

Breaking the "perfect" world.

Shattering it.

[EVALUATION TERMINATED]

Everything froze.

Then—

Collapsed.

Kael opened his eyes.

Back in the training hall.

Same place.

Same world.

But different.

Because now—

The System had responded.

And it failed.

A final message appeared.

[STATUS UPDATE][DESIGNATION: KAEL DRAVEN][CLASSIFICATION: UNDEFINED ENTITY]

A pause.

Then—

One more line.

[WARNING: DO NOT ENGAGE DIRECTLY]

Silence.

Yoo Sera stared at the message.

"…It's… avoiding you."

Kael exhaled slowly.

"…No."

A faint smile.

"…It's learning."

Because now—

Even the System—

Had to adapt.

And that meant one thing.

The rules of this world—

Were no longer fixed.

And Kael—

Was the reason why.
