Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 – Scavengers, Part 2

After a quick spider-lunch, the trio returned to their daily quest. An hour later, all three were done and claimed their daily 100 Nanocoins.

"It's barely 1:00pm…we still have plenty of time…what should we do next?" Wain asked.

"Well…we could try farming mobs for drops and XP…but given the fact that this is our first day and all…I say we logout, cashout and enjoy a real dinner tonight…in the real world. The Rose Diner is open late and it's only 5-minute walking distance…" Arthos suggested.

"The food is good there…I tried it once…and the owner Rose was nice to me." Kristan said.

A dinner plan was set!

[LAST STOP ORPHANGE]

"Will you please just stop with the pacing…you are making me nervous." Arthos complained as he watched Wain pacing up and down the reception room at the orphanage. Since the teenagers were now 16-17 and "employed", they were allowed permission to leave the orphanage whenever they wished. In fact, the administration secretly wished they would just leave and not return.

"It's just that…it's just that…I'm so nervous…this is like a first date…and my god she is so hot!" Wain said blushingly while fanning himself with his hands.

"Bro…it's NOT a date…it's just three teammates going to eat dinner and celebrate their first paycheck…nothing more." Arthos explained in a frustrated voice.

Before logging out of the game, the trio cashed out 50 Nanocoins leaving the other 50 for the room fee. It felt good seeing those 50 Nanocoins converted to 50 US Dollars.

A few minutes later, Kristan walked into the reception room. She wore blue jeans and a fitted white button-down blouse with her hair straight…even without make-up she looked gorgeous. Wain was speechless and could not manage to utter a single word.

"Come on then…let's head out…you boys look good." She said with a smirk.

Wain blushed so heavily that he almost passed out from all the blood being pooled in one place. Arthos let out a small laugh seeing the scene play out.

"You look good too." Arthos said respectfully.

[…]

"A table for three?" Arthos asked the hostess.

"Right this way…are you celebrating anything special tonight?"

"We got a job…so it's a good day for us." Arthos replied with a bright smile.

"Oh, that is great! Congratulations…your server will be with you shortly."

A few minutes later the trio placed their order. Wain asked for an order of chicken wings (hot), Arthos asked for grilled chicken, and Kristan ordered salmon. Since the restaurant was not too busy, the food was brought out quickly.

YUM!!!

"This salmon is so good…and the meat is soft and buttery!" Kristan said with a delightful tone as she enjoyed her dinner.

"The chicken is very good too…except that I kind of miss the spider." Arthos replied jokingly. The three friends laughed at the recent memory.

"I was thinking about our guild…and I know we said that we should split everything evenly…but the rules require us to select one person to be the guild-leader…and I think that should be Arthos." Kristan said.

She continued, "you are good with people…and you good at leading. I think it should be you."

"Yeah, I agree…it should be you bro." Wain said nodding his head as he frantically tried to wipe his mouth from the chicken wing sauce. Chicken wings are never a good choice when trying to make a good impression on someone…too messy.

"In that case, I propose we make Kristan the Vice guild-master and Wain the Treasurer…no one is better at knowing stuff and organizing than you." Arthos said with sincerity.

"It might be a while until we collect 1 million Nanocoins to start our own guild…but I know we can do it." Wain said with confidence.

The rest of the night, the trio laughed as they enjoyed their dinner and talked about the future and their joint guild. It felt good to dream…and to have someone to share that dream with. On their way back to the orphanage the group was busy talking about the guild formation topic.

"Wait." Arthos said.

He walked over to a blind boy sitting on the corner of the street a few blocks away from the diner and the orphanage. The boy was roughly 17-18 years old, wore tatters clothing and a blindfold around his eyes…from the looks of things, the boy had been sitting at that corner for hours with no sign of urgency to go somewhere else.

"Hey…umm…I live nearby…I don't have much money but here I will share with you this…it's all I have." Arthos gave the blind boy 20 dollars.

The blind boy was surprised by the generosity and simply said, "thank you."
