Mark began pulling at Seren's thin shirt. Mark felt his ego shattered by that message. He felt betrayed, even though he always claimed he didn't care about Seren. The jealousy he masked with anger made him lose his senses.
Seren struggled, her tears beginning to flow, soaking the pillow. "Let me go, Mark! Please!"
Just as Mark was about to go further, a shrill scream from downstairs shattered the tension in the room.
"MARK! HELP! HAELYN!"
It was Beatrice's voice. She sounded panicked and hysterical.
Mark froze. His movements halted right above Seren's body. His breath was still ragged, but his mother's scream pulled him back to reality. He released his grip on Seren and immediately stood up. With a quick motion, he fastened his belt again, though his hands trembled slightly.
"Don't go anywhere!" Mark threatened Seren before he ran to the door, unlocked it, and dashed out of the room.
