Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Classes

As they left the house with the food and went to meet Arthur, Sabrina began explaining.

"Classes are categorized into two types: combat and labor. A combat class can be physical, magical, or hybrid—a fusion of both."

"Every labor class has a magical variant that specializes in creating magical items."

"But they're rare, since they require specific items from a dungeon, and the chance of successfully upgrading the class is very low."

"Any questions?" Sabrina asked, holding Aron in her arms.

"Can a labor class also ascend?" Aron asked, feeling the wind mixed with his mother's scent.

"Yes. Just like combat classes, labor classes require ascension after reaching a level limit in their craft."

As he listened, Aron tried to organize everything in his mind.

'This class system is more complex than it looks,' he thought, bringing a hand to his chin.

"The basic professions are Warrior, Archer, Rogue, Mage, and Healer. During ascension, they can specialize in a field depending on their choice."

"Any combat profession, whether basic or specialized, can have a hybrid path during awakening or ascension, but that's rare naturally and works similarly to labor classes."

"A magical class can cast spells without needing items, but physical classes must use a weapon in order to activate their abilities."

"Hybrid classes don't break this rule—they just make them stronger and more versatile."

'So hybrid classes are pretty powerful, huh?' Aron thought, looking at his mother curiously.

"A physical class gains the suffix Arcane in its name, which means it can cast spells to increase range and power, but those spells are limited to its own class."

"The same applies to purely magical classes, like Mage. Within the class, there are variations, like the War Mage, which gains the ability to learn or use some physical skills and weapons."

"Hybrid classes are very strong, but they also have a weakness: they require ten times more effort to evolve."

"Many don't make it past the second ascension."

'So hybrid classes are very strong and versatile, but rare and difficult to improve,' Aron thought, frowning.

"Labor professions depend on whether a person wants to learn one or not."

"You can choose any labor class you want. It all depends on a good teacher; if they have a magical class, your chances of obtaining a magical variant early on are quite high."

"A person who tries to create skills blindly takes a long time to progress."

"As for your initial combat class, it's not something you choose. The universe decides for you, based on what it considers most suitable."

"You might receive a physical class, a magical one, or even a combination of both."

"Do you understand?" Sabrina asked.

"Yes," Aron replied, nodding and taking a deep breath.

"Any doubts?" she asked again.

"No, mama is a great teacwer (teacher)," Aron said with a shy smile.

Sabrina laughed, adjusting his hair.

"No, my love. You're the great student—and very intelligent."

As they talked, they reached the fields. As far as the eye could see, there was a beautiful sea of green, with crops of corn, soybeans, sorghum, and flax.

There were more than thirty adults working in the fields, all busy with their tasks.

As they walked along the path between the crops, a voice called out to Sabrina.

"Sabrina!"

Aron looked toward the voice. It was Matilda, coming to meet them.

"Good morning," Sabrina said.

"Good morning! I was on my way to talk to you," Matilda replied with a smile.

She looked at Aron.

"Hey, Aron! How are you?"

Aron waved, noticing a faint sweet scent in the air.

"I'm good. And you, Sister Mada?"

Matilda laughed, shaking her head.

"I'm good! Are you going to see Arthur?"

"Yes, we're going to have lunch with him. If you're hungry, you can join us," Sabrina said.

"Of course, let's go," Matilda replied, leaning in slightly to speak in a lower voice:

"I walked through the forest this morning and found a dungeon…"

Sabrina frowned.

"A dungeon?"

"Yes. That's why I was going to find you. Even as an Elite Arcane Assassin, clearing a dungeon alone is difficult."

"We need to call Arthur as well and remove the dungeon before the village chief finds out and the kingdom sends someone to relocate it."

'Seriously… what kind of family was I born into?' Aron thought, surprised.

"The sooner we take it, the better," Matilda continued.

"Let's make the preparations after lunch, and we'll go tonight," Sabrina said.

'A dungeon near the village… this world really is fascinating,' Aron thought, looking around.

That was when something caught his attention. Among thousands of flax plants, one of them seemed different. It emitted a very faint green glow.

'Wait…'

Aron felt a slight tingling in his body, as if small currents of energy were running through his arms.

It was as if the plant was calling him.

"Mama…" Aron said, frowning.

"What is it?" Sabrina asked, leaning in to see him better.

"That plant…"

She followed his gaze and crouched down to look.

"What is it?" she asked, curious.

"Don't you see it?" Aron asked, pointing with his finger. His hands trembled slightly.

"No… what's wrong with it?"

"It's glowing?" Aron asked, surprised.

"Yes… look, Matilda!" Sabrina said, pointing at the plant.

A shiver ran through Aron's body.

"Matilda… take that plant and keep it with you," Sabrina said firmly.

Then she looked at her son.

"Everyone has elemental affinities. When you awaken and receive your projection, you'll be able to see what yours is."

"With time, you can also develop others, depending on your talent."

"But it can manifest spontaneously, just like you did now."

"If you have talent, you can try to master an elemental affinity from scratch. But that's very difficult, so most people only use the elements they already have an affinity with."

"So this was caused by my elemental affinity?" Aron asked, surprised, feeling his body tingle again.

"Yes. Places with abundant elemental mana aren't common, but they're not rare either. Special herbs and fruits, on the other hand, are very rare, because they're usually eaten by animals or remain well hidden."

"Some plants can even have enough talent to awaken and form a new race," Sabrina said with a faint smile.

"A new race?" Aron asked, eyes wide.

"Yes. A plant needs talent and a lot of time to awaken."

"Do you see this flax field?" Sabrina said, pointing at the crops.

Aron nodded, keeping his eyes fixed on the glowing plant.

"One in thousands may have a seed that has undergone mutation."

"If the mutation is good, it's selected for reproduction. After a long time, that same plant may undergo another mutation. And the cycle continues."

"Over time, if a plant develops a greater capacity to absorb mana, it can be sold for a very high price, since it has unique properties."

"But they are very expensive and hard to obtain. They require time and luck to appear naturally."

"Back to the subject of races… this flax would need a special characteristic that all awakened plants must possess, in addition to mana accumulation," Sabrina said.

"And what is that chawactewistic (characteristic)?" Aron asked, curious.

"It's called the Green Spirit."

"And the one you found might be of that rare type."

"The professions of Farmer and Herbalist, like other labor professions, can see information about plants and seeds."

"So even without a profession, your affinity with the Wood element must be very high."

A short while later, they arrived where Arthur was.

"Arthur, Matilda found a dungeon that recently appeared in the forest near the village."

"Come back home early so we can make preparations."

"I don't think we'd need all three of us, but if we want to do this quickly and without leaving traces, the three of us together will be safer," Sabrina said.

"A dungeon near the village? What luck! That dungeon could serve as a training ground for Aron in the future and also be a good source of resources," Arthur said excitedly.

"Let's eat and then go take care of it," Matilda said with a smile.
