I walked in to sign up for the exam, but—wait a second, how am I even writing this? I don't even know what their language looks like, yet it seems I've already absorbed it somehow. Regardless, I filled in all the necessary information and headed to the theory exam.
Once I entered the room, the proctor explained:
"Each candidate will receive a different set of questions depending on their element. Therefore, cheating is useless!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the exam began. I answered the questions easily, but then I hit Question 17. The question was: What do we use to control magic? I got really stressed because I didn't know the answer. The Brain? The Mind? Emotion? Sensation? I ended up guessing Sensation. After that, I moved on to the next questions, which were very easy. I finished the theory exam and waited for the practical test.
The proctor called me to use magic on a wooden dummy. I chose to create an Ice Needle and fired it. Once the needle entered the dummy, I grew more ice from inside the needle. The proctor scribbled something on a piece of paper before telling me to go home and check the results tomorrow.
Today, I rushed back because I didn't want to meet my friends. I spent an hour reading books before heading out again to pick up dropped coins until noon. I went to have lunch at a shop—uh, I was too lazy to read the name. I stood in the queue thinking for a long time about what to eat. The result was:
"I'll have the same thing as the person in front of me."
Yes, I ended up stopping my brain and just ordered what the previous person had. It was Curry, priced at 73 Ventus. Was it worth it? Whatever, I just ate it. After finishing, I immediately walked out to the city map to try and memorize the locations. I memorized everything—it wasn't hard at all. The restaurant from earlier was named 'Deliciosus'. Isn't that name a bit too direct? By the way, why was it harder to remember my friends' names? It took me 6 years to remember them, but only 3 months to forget.
I continued picking up coins all night, using ice to stimulate myself to stay awake while also training my mana capacity. I collected money until morning and went to see the results. Of course, nobody probably recognized me because I finished my practical exam before everyone else even arrived.
Wait... Theory Score: 20/20. Practical: B. Probably because my technique isn't very 'practical' for common use. But wait, I got placed in Class Ignis! (Classes rank from Ignis -> Aqua -> Ventus -> Terra, from high to low). This class is mostly Level 1 elementals or Level 2 geniuses... I sighed because I know I'm not a genius (Really?). I don't think I can compete with anyone in this class. And it was true—I was ranked at the very bottom.
I was so stressed I almost walked out, but before that, I stumbled upon a name: Fortimos. Who names their kid that? Whatever. I walked out and spent all my time picking up dropped coins. Now I have 4 Ignis, 66 Aqua, and 2 Ventus. Eh... 66, my favorite number.
I went to buy books and all the "necessary" uniforms. I didn't buy a staff because I can use my hands instead. I carried my stuff into the school dorm and sat down to read. Since I'm in Class Ignis, I got a single room with no roommates. So good!
I then went to sleep and waited for tomorrow.
