Last night, due to sheer exhaustion, I fell into a deep sleep, completely oblivious to everything. When I woke up, the first thing I did was brush my teeth. After that, I stripped off my clothes, took a shower, and changed into a fresh set. I washed my old clothes and hung them out to dry. I have to do this every day because I only own two sets of clothes. (It's efficient and saves money.)
Immediately after, I sat down to read, and—man, why is this so illogical? I sighed. My brain was still trying to adapt. I spent time studying magic circles, testing everything I could, and finally reached a conclusion: a magic circle consists of three layers.
* The Two Outer Layers: Divided into two sections. On one side, the number of notches equals the Radius (1 notch: 50 cm). On the other side, the notches represent Density (1 notch : 1 g/cm³).
* The Middle Layer: Represents the product of density multiplied by the radius.
* The Innermost Layer: Indicates the Spell Level, calculated as 2^n (where n is the number of notches).
There were countless other special symbols—so many it's almost impossible to memorize them all, so I only learned the "necessary" ones.
After that, I closed my book and walked out of the dorm to scout around. There were quite a lot of people. I headed to the school cafeteria for breakfast. Even though the food was absolutely terrible because it was free... well, it's free, so I ate it.
Next, I checked the calendar. Ignis Era (I.E.) 1276, Ignis Mensis 63, Wednesday. Huh, they use the same weekday system as us, but a month here has 13 weeks (though some have 12). I hurried out of the cafeteria, but I suddenly spotted my "friends" from the old world. I bolted out of the school immediately and headed to a shop instead. I thought for a long time about what to buy, and the answer was: a sword, a dagger, throwing knives, and a cooking knife. These should help me survive.
I went straight to the weapon shop. I saw many flashy, over-the-top swords. Wait a minute, I thought, why am I buying a sword if I can just create one? The atomic bonds of my ice should be strong enough, right?
But I chose to buy them anyway.
"Welcome, customer. What are you looking for?" the merchant asked.
"A sword, a dagger, and throwing knives," I replied.
The merchant looked confused—he probably wondered what I'd do with all these since the school likely only teaches swordsmanship. But he grabbed everything I asked for anyway.
"This is a high-durability steel sword with excellent wind resistance," he said.
Well, sounds good enough (I guess), I thought. I asked for the price.
"How much?"
"That will be 3 Ignis and 2 Aqua."
So expensive! Whatever. I paid him and hauled the gear back to my room. I sat there being depressed for a bit because I spent so much money. School starts in 4 days... I walked out of the school again to go pick up more dropped coins.
When it got dark, I stopped because I was lazy. I found 17 Ignis and 6 Ventus. Talk about luck! I probably won't have to scavenge for a long time. But before reaching the school, I don't know what I was thinking—I bought a book to read for fun. It cost me 2 Ignis. Oh well, it's bought. I headed back to the dorm.
Back at the dorm, I opened my textbooks. They were incredibly easy, though I'm still not used to things that completely defy the laws of physics. Before I knew it, it was midnight, so I went to sleep. I repeated this for the next 3 days. On Sunday, I wanted to relax, so I went for a walk. Before leaving, I warned myself several times: Do not buy anything.
After being out for a while, I was just wandering around. Wait... I haven't looked in a mirror since I got here. What do I even look like? Oh well, I'll check when I get back.
As I walked, my mind wandered until—Thud! I accidentally bumped into a girl who was carrying textbooks. Her books scattered everywhere.
"I'm sorry," we both said at the same time.
My hands moved faster, so I gathered all the fallen books for her. Wait, these are first-year textbooks. Whatever. I hurried away. She seemed to be saying something, but I didn't listen at all. (And of course, I didn't remember her face because that's too hard—I'm terrible at remembering faces.)
After walking for a bit, I ended up at a park and napped for a while. I woke up to find it was already 3 PM.
I walked back to the dorm immediately, and this time, I didn't forget to look in the mirror. Oh! My face is actually decent. (Wait, in what way? In a good way.) But why is my hair a bluish-black? Do normal people have bluish-black hair? Then again, outside there are people with orange, red, white, and light blue hair. A bit of black with a blue tint shouldn't be that weird. After checking the mirror, I went back to my books.
Now, let us move to another scene—(Wait, this isn't classic literature)—Phukan's friends were gathering and chatting until someone asked:
"By the way, has anyone seen Phukan?"
They thought for a moment before answering in unison, "Haven't seen him at all."
Lhong added, "We'll probably run into him soon. We're in the same school, after all."
Yes, his old friends were also in the same school, even if they weren't in the same class... They sat there talking, and as expected, their decision-making was quite slow due to the high number of opinions.
(This is a filler chapter, so it's a bit short ^-^)
