Chapter 36 - Chapter 35: The Aftermath

Three days later, I sat on the porch of the Bayou safehouse, watching the sunset.

Davina was inside, painting—always painting, capturing the world in colors that made sense to her. Hayley had returned to her pack, baby Hope growing strong. The Mikaelsons were consolidating power, but respecting boundaries we'd established.

Marcel had chosen to leave the city—not in defeat, but in wisdom. He'd rebuild elsewhere, return when the time was right.

And me?

I'd been traveling for so long—thirteen thousand realities, endless worlds, infinite possibilities. Always moving. Always seeking.

For the first time, I didn't want to leave.

The door opened behind me. Davina emerged, paint on her hands, smile on her face.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Home," I said. "What it means. Where it is."

She sat beside me, close enough to touch. "Found any answers?"

"Maybe." I looked at her—this girl who'd died and come back, who'd painted herself free, who'd faced ancestors and emerged stronger. "I think home might be people, not places."

"Yeah." She leaned against my shoulder. "I think you're right."

We watched the sunset together, two impossible beings in an impossible world.

And for the first time in thirteen thousand realities, I didn't want to be anywhere else.
