Chapter 6 - Sister, please call off the engagement.

Father Su glanced at Su Mianmian with a hint of reproach. "What are you standing there for? Don't you even know to refill your brother-in-law's tea?"

Su Mianmian said "Oh," her cheeks flushing slightly. She obediently stood up, refilled Gu Yizhou's teacup, and respectfully placed it beside him. "Brother-in-law, have some tea."

Her voice was soft and sweet, half-asleep, and Gu Yizhou suddenly thought of the little kitten at the old house. ...During the meal, Su Yang was clearly distracted, her mouth full of food while her eyes were glued to her phone on the table.

Mother Su kept giving her meaningful glances. "Yangyang, get some food for Yizhou, don't just eat by yourself." Su Yang said "Oh," and just as she picked up the serving chopsticks, her phone suddenly rang.

She glanced nervously at the caller ID, then abruptly stood up. "Excuse me, I need to take this call." "You child, can't you finish your meal before talking!"

Su's mother frowned and called out, then sheepishly placed a piece of sweet and sour pork ribs on Gu Yizhou's plate. "This child is always so impulsive. After she marries into the Gu family, you'll have to be very tolerant."

Gu Yizhou's expression remained unreadable. "Everyone has a different personality. She's fine this way." It was a fairly reasonable answer, but Su Mianmian sensed a deep affection Gu Yizhou held for her sister in his words.

She silently bit her chopsticks. It was a pity; he loved her sister so much, yet he didn't know her sister already had someone else in her heart. The meal was finished, but Su Yang still hadn't come downstairs. Seeing that Su's mother was about to get angry, Su Mianmian offered to go upstairs to check on him.

As she reached Su Yang's door, she unexpectedly heard a suppressed sob. "Do you really have to leave?" "I already told you, my engagement to him wasn't of my own volition. Can't you wait a little longer?" "I don't know what to do, but there's always a way."

"Ah Feng, can you let me think about it some more?" "Hello? Ah Feng? Ah Feng!" As Su Yang's voice lost control, a muffled thud echoed from inside. Just as Su Mianmian was about to push open the door to check, steady footsteps suddenly sounded on the stairs.

The next second, Gu Yizhou's tall figure appeared at the end of the corridor. Seeing Su Mianmian staring intently at him, Gu Yizhou said calmly, "I heard a noise just now, and my aunt asked me to come up and check." "Oh, it's me. I accidentally tripped and fell."

Su Mianmian knew her sister was in a very bad state, and she absolutely couldn't let Gu Yizhou into her room right now. "Took a fall? Are you alright?" Gu Yizhou's gaze swept suspiciously over Su Mianmian, his eyes behind his glasses like a radar, as if nothing could escape his notice. Su Mianmian waved her hand guiltily, "It's okay, there's a carpet, it doesn't hurt."

Gu Yizhou nodded and continued walking towards her. In her anxiety, Su Mianmian disregarded etiquette and rushed forward to block his way. "Brother-in-law, my sister just got her clothes dirty and is changing now." The implication was that he couldn't come in.

She thought that the polite and composed Gu Yizhou would understand her meaning, but he only paused slightly. "Then I'll wait here for her; I have something to tell her."

Su Mianmian was almost in tears, her face scrunched up. Changing clothes would take at least five minutes, but after hearing her sister's state on the phone, she probably wouldn't be able to calm down for even ten minutes.

Her mind raced, and suddenly, an idea struck her. "Brother-in-law, would you like to see my cat?" "Cat?" Su Mianmian nodded, her doe-like eyes looking sincerely at Gu Yizhou. "It's a plush toy, very beautiful. You'll see when you come with me." Gu Yizhou's gaze lingered on Su Mianmian's face for two seconds. Just as Su Mianmian was wondering what she should do if Gu Yizhou disagreed, Gu Yizhou's thin lips parted slightly, "Alright, let's go see."

Su Mianmian breathed a sigh of relief and nervously led Gu Yizhou up to the third floor.

When the door opened, the snow-white plush toy with beautiful ice-blue eyes was comfortably reclining on the windowsill, enjoying the view. A gentle breeze blew, and its snow-white fur rippled like ocean waves, a sight both pleasing to the eye and soothing to the soul.

Su Mianmian's nervousness instantly dissipated, and she turned back with a smug look. "See? I didn't lie to you, Tangtang really is very pretty." Gu Yizhou had one hand in his pocket, his expression showing little reaction. "Tangtang? She's a girl?"

Su Mianmian walked over and petted the cat. "No, he's a boy." Seeing Gu Yizhou's thick eyebrows slightly arch, Su Mianmian's eyes crinkled. "My sister initially named him Cotton Candy, but I thought that sounded more like a girl's name, so we compromised."

Gu Yizhou understood, his gaze falling on the uniquely designed cat stand beside him. Su Mianmian silently observed him for a moment, then tentatively asked, "Brother-in-law, do you really like my sister?" Hearing this, Gu Yizhou's long, narrow eyes behind his glasses slowly met Su Mianmian's gaze.

"Why do you say that?" Perhaps because Gu Yizhou's aura was so powerful, even just standing there quietly, he exuded an aura of authority. Su Mianmian didn't dare meet his gaze, silently averting her eyes. "It's just... a feeling."

Gu Yizhou's eyes flickered slightly. He turned back to continue tending to the cat tree, his fingers long and clean, like lustrous white jade. "She's my future wife." Because she's his future wife, that's why he likes her?

Su Mianmian was slightly taken aback, recalling how Gu Yizhou had praised Su Yang's personality during dinner. She had even thought Gu Yizhou was deeply in love with Su Yang. Ah... well, that's fine.

If Gu Yizhou didn't like her sister that much, perhaps it would be easier for her sister to break off the engagement. Thinking of this, Su Mianmian suddenly felt much lighter.

She then showed Gu Yizhou the various toys she had bought for Tangtang until her mother called them down for dessert, at which point she felt she had gloriously completed her mission. Gu Yizhou didn't stay for dinner; he went downstairs for a while and then left under the pretext of having something to do.

Su Yang's eyes were swollen from crying. She didn't come down to see him off and was severely scolded by her parents. That evening, Su Mianmian quietly slipped into Su Yang's room. Su Yang, dressed in a white nightgown, sat on the bay window, her gaze unfocused, like a soulless doll.

Su Mianmian felt a pang of pain in her heart and brought a glass of warm milk to her. "Sis, you didn't eat dinner tonight, have a milk pudding." Su Yang hummed in agreement, "Just leave it there, I'll drink it later."

Su Mianmian sat down beside her, taking Su Yang's hand like she did when they were children. "Sis, don't you want to marry Gu Yizhou?" Su Yang's eyes flickered, a forced smile playing on her lips. "What nonsense are you talking about? What do you know, you little kid?"

Su Mianmian pouted. "I'm twenty already, only five years younger than you." Su Yang chuckled, a hint of warmth finally appearing in her eyes. "That's still young, forever." "He's younger than me." Su Mianmian leaned affectionately on Su Yang's shoulder. "Sis, I had a fight with Tang Yunzheng."

Su Yang frowned. "Did that kid bully you?" Su Mianmian shook her head. "No, it's just that he got a girlfriend. He said he's always considered me his childhood sweetheart."

Su Yang instantly understood. He glanced at Su Mianmian, seeing that she was in a relatively good mood, and clenched his fists, cracking his knuckles. "That brat! Just wait till tomorrow, I'll skin him alive!"

Su Mianmian laughed uncontrollably. From childhood to adulthood, Su Yang had always protected her without reservation. "Sis, why don't you call off the engagement? I asked around for you during the day. Gu Yizhou isn't really obsessed with you. Since you two don't like each other, forcing yourselves together will only cause you both pain. It's better to cut your losses now; at worst, you'll get a scolding from Mom and Dad."

Su Yang stiffened upon hearing this. "Mianmian, do you...do you know something?" Su Mianmian neither confirmed nor denied it. "Sis, just trust me. Go after what you want. Don't worry so much."... The three-day holiday flew by.

When Su Mianmian returned to school, she bumped into Tang Yunzheng at the school gate. Tang Yunzheng was wearing a gray hoodie and matching sweatpants, looking trendy and energetic. Seeing Su Mianmian, he tossed away his cigarette.

"Didn't I tell you we'd go back to school together? Why did you leave first?" Tang Yunzheng had indeed texted Su Mianmian yesterday, asking her to return to school together, but Su Mianmian had only glanced at it and deleted it. "I had something to do, so I left early."

Tang Yunzheng thought he had already appeased Su Mianmian last time, but he didn't expect her to be so cold today. He felt a little annoyed; when did this woman become so hard to please? He scratched his head, his tone slightly aggrieved. "Still angry?

You already accepted my gift." Su Mianmian took the gift box out of her bag and shoved it at Tang Yunzheng. "It wasn't that I wanted to accept it, you forced it on me, so here it is."

Tang Yunzheng looked at the two boxes in his hands, momentarily stunned. "No, that's not what I meant." Su Mianmian ignored him and walked straight into the school. Tang Yunzheng grabbed her and shoved the gift box back into her hands. "Su Mianmian, are you never going to stop?

I gave you the gift, there's no reason to take it back. If you really don't want it, then throw it away!"
