Chapter 19 - #18: Thank you for your welcome

The match resumed.

Eindhoven, not thrown into disarray by the conceded goal, immediately launched an attack using the kickoff opportunity.

The Ajax players, greatly boosted in morale, refused to give an inch.

The two teams went back and forth, constantly attacking, and the match once again entered a white-hot state.

Sean became increasingly excited as he played, actively expanding his running range.

Inside and outside the penalty area, in the center and on the wings, in the front and middle fields—his footprints were everywhere.

The two head coaches were also busy, deploying their forces, and quickly used up all three substitution slots.

Time passed minute by minute, but the score on the field remained 1-1.

Both sides created a few shots, but none managed to change the score.

In the 83rd minute, Ajax attacked the front field again.

Sean rushed into the penalty area then withdrew, noticing that the opponent's center-back was constantly tracking him, and immediately started moving horizontally.

Eindhoven's center-back, Rekik, subconsciously followed Sean, and a temporary gap appeared at the top of the penalty arc.

Ajax midfielder Blind passed the ball at the opportune moment, and Sean arrived to meet it, trapping the ball with his left foot and shooting powerfully with his right.

The ball flew straight towards the goal.

Eindhoven's goalkeeper, Zoet, flew to save, just barely batting the ball away.

Jeffrey twisted and cleared with a big kick.

In haste, the ball didn't fly far, only landing outside the upper right corner of the penalty area.

Sean was the first to reach the landing spot and take possession of the ball.

Eindhoven's Adam Maher then blocked Sean's path.

Sean poked the ball with his right foot and cut inside.

Adam Maher decisively turned to follow, not expecting Sean's speed to be a bit faster, with his left leg landing in front of him first.

"Bang~"

Adam Maher had just turned when he collided with Sean, and caught off guard, he was shouldered out by Sean's backside, stumbling backward and nearly falling.

Sean successfully cut inside to the edge of the penalty arc, unfazed by the charging Eindhoven players, and struck the ball with his right foot.

Eindhoven's Park Ji-sung and Schaars simultaneously rushed in front of Sean to block the shot.

Sean's line of sight for a shot was gone, so he temporarily twisted his ankle, opening up a wider angle, and changing both the power and angle of contact with the ball.

Bang!

The ball skimmed past Park Ji-sung, diagonally entering the Eindhoven penalty area, heading straight for the far post.

Ajax's right winger, Klaassen, arrived in time and pushed the ball into the net.

Ajax 2-1 Eindhoven.

The Cruyff Arena erupted in a roar!

Klaassen ran towards the sidelines, seemingly intending to celebrate passionately with the fans.

Sean, however, first turned to Adam Maher and winked at him:

'Hey, buddy, thanks for the welcome!'

Only then did he accelerate to catch up with Klaassen.

Klaassen also turned back at the right moment, pointing to Sean and inviting him to celebrate together.

Adam Maher, however, also understood Sean's meaning, and his face instantly flushed:

"F*ck, that previous shot was one thing."

"But this time, it was a pass that completely defeated me."

"What else is there to say?"

"Welcome?"

"Welcome my ass!"

"Welcome him to trample all over me?!"

Everyone knew that the earlier 'welcome' was just banter.

He didn't expect to be paid back so quickly by this kid.

"F*ck, what an annoying brat!!"

The more Adam Maher thought about it, the angrier he got, and his body trembled slightly.

On the sidelines, Frank de Boer was trembling with excitement.

Waving his fists continuously wasn't enough, Frank de Boer turned and shook Bergkamp again.

"My judgment is never wrong, Sean~"

"Beautiful cut-in, perfect fake shot and real pass!" Bergkamp interjected.

The two exchanged glances and burst into laughter.

Ajax did not celebrate too early.

Eindhoven, of course, would not easily concede defeat; after the match resumed, they still tried their best to attack, attempting to equalize the score by all possible means.

Ajax, though happy, was not careless, seizing opportunities for a counterattack.

The situation on the field once again fell into a stalemate, and the 2-1 score was maintained until the end of the match.

Although Sean came on as a substitute and only played for less than thirty minutes.

But because he contributed one assist and one goal, he still received the Man of the Match award.

When Sean lifted the small trophy, the Cruyff Arena once again erupted in thunderous applause.

In just one match, Sean successfully became Ajax's new darling.

Coming from their own youth academy, his first-team debut once again saw him contribute a goal and an assist, with a visibly bright future ahead.

Everything was only natural.

Being surrounded by reporters again was also expected.

"Yes, I am very happy, the team won, I scored a goal, there is nothing more perfect than this!"

"Before the match? Yes, I thought I would score."

"Of course I am confident, I know my own strength very well, as long as I don't get cold feet, I will definitely perform well, and the facts prove that I did not get cold feet."

"..."

"..."

After a long time, the joint interview finally ended.

Fortunately, he wasn't taken to the post-match press conference by Frank de Boer, and Sean finally had time to face the only unsatisfactory aspect of this match.

The end of the match was the moment of system settlement.

Sean originally only gained 40 points of Bond Value in this match.

10 points for winning.

20 points for scoring a goal.

10 points for an assist.

Fortunately, he received an additional 20 points for being named Man of the Match.

Eindhoven's Bond Value then became 60 points.

He had originally wondered if there would be an exponential increase when promoted from the Eerste Divisie to the Eredivisie, but now it seemed there was no chance.

Should he save it or use it immediately?

Considering the long term, delayed gratification and continued accumulation was undoubtedly the best choice.

Drawing a general player now would most likely only increase the fusion rate of existing player traits.

If he continued to accumulate, even if he only reached 100 and drew a general star player, he might be able to get new traits, right?

Even if it was just a single trait, even if the rating was only A, it would still be a welcome addition!

Sean directly chose to draw all general players.

There was no other way, improving his current strength was the most important thing.

It wasn't because of the match against Feyenoord a few days later; Feyenoord wasn't that strong yet.

The problem was that it was already the second half of the season.

It was impossible to encounter Eindhoven again in the League this season.

There was no chance in the Europa League or the Dutch Cup either; Eindhoven had already been eliminated from both competitions.

So, to continue accumulating Eindhoven Bond Value, he would have to wait until next season!

So, what was he waiting for?

Considering long-term goals was certainly a good thing.

But with the World Cup happening this summer, it wasn't necessarily so!

Sean chose to improve his strength as quickly as possible.

It should be noted that Sean had never played for Belgium's national youth teams, neither the U17 nor the U20.

And while Belgium is a small country, with a land area similar to a province in China, it was experiencing a boom in football talent, with its ranking consistently among the world's top teams.

In the Brazil World Cup to be held this summer, Belgium was also listed as a top-tier team.

If Sean wanted to play in the World Cup by joining Belgium, a generally good performance would probably not impress the Belgium coaching staff.

Although bringing a rookie to experience the World Cup atmosphere is a relatively common option.

However, as a Chinese-Belgian, Sean needed to do a lot more to convince others that he was worth making an exception for.

Of course, the effect of Eindhoven's Bond Value was still very obvious.

The fusion rate of 'Instant Burst' instantly increased to 100%.

The fusion rate of 'Extreme Speed Dribbling' also increased to 92%, and with a few more days of extra training, it was very likely to reach 100% before the match against Feyenoord.

That would mean Sean officially possessed all of Hazard's traits, without his weaknesses.

For example, Sean would not have the problem of having to adjust his body carefully for a smooth power delivery when shooting from long range due to short legs...
