The alarm finally stopped.
But the silence that followed felt even worse.
Emily walked slowly through the hidden corridor.
The walls were covered with old cables and sealed doors.
This place had clearly been abandoned years ago.
But the system was still active.
Which meant someone had been maintaining it.
Watching it.
Watching her.
Alexander opened one of the metal cabinets along the wall.
Inside were several files.
Dust covered most of them.
But one folder looked newer.
He pulled it out carefully.
Emily watched as he opened it.
Her heart sank immediately.
The pages were filled with medical charts.
Blood reports.
Brain scans.
All with the same name.
Emily Carter.
Her breathing stopped.
"These are mine."
Alexander flipped another page.
"This one is dated fifteen years ago."
Emily stepped closer.
"What does it say?"
He read silently for a moment.
Then his expression hardened.
"They were studying your neurological responses."
"Why?"
Alexander closed the file slowly.
"Because you reacted differently."
A long silence followed.
Emily felt a strange mix of anger and fear.
"They treated me like a test subject."
Alexander looked at her.
"Yes."
She clenched her fists.
"But why me?"
Before he could answer, something suddenly fell from the folder.
A photograph.
Emily picked it up.
Her breath caught immediately.
It showed a group of scientists standing around a hospital bed.
And on that bed...
Was a young girl.
Her.
But what frightened Emily most was the expression on her own face.
She wasn't crying.
She wasn't scared.
She was staring directly at the camera.
As if she knew it was there.
As if she understood everything that was happening.
