Nivalis begin to explain his situation. There's a group of people planning on reviving the ancient calamity, the ice leviathan that is dead deep in the freezing sea. He's sealed the beast and there's a bunch of people trying to break it. Hearing that, Nein goes pale. It's those guys again.
"What's wrong human?. Do you know these intruder?."
"Not only I know them. I've messed up with three of their business now. You know I'm coming from a different world right?. I can't keep dealing with them while I'm having my own thing to do."
Nein explain his situation and it's making Nivalis a bit disappointed. Especially when he carries Sylva's blessing. He thought he's a good guy.
"Even when this world that currently you walking on. You're not willing to help?. I don't understand the way you're thinking human, I thought you'd like it if people see you as their heroes."
Nein frowns. He's not wrong. Most people would definitely accept this, but he's sick of it, sick of all attention that'll only put his life and family in danger. He feels bad, but he's not a hero. Never was.
"Hmm... you're an odd one human. Then how about I ask the girl that carries the cold around -"
His words interrupted when Nein suddenly throw his anchor toward him. His eyes furious when he's planning to drag Clara into this.
"Don't you dare touch her."
His eyes full of malice as the anchor floating due to the shield protecting Nivalis body. The crack on it visible enough to tell that Nein's really serious.
"You have the power to save the world. Yet you choose to be nothing?."
"You literally created to protect this land and you can't even help yourself?."
"Watch your tone, human."
The tension between them grows. The anchor returned to his hand without breaking eye contact. The smoke around him intensified, slowly consuming the ground beneath him. Nivalis cast his magic and before they start, a voice making them stop.
"BROTHER!!"
Clara voice echoing through the ceiling and followed with the falling ground between them, she rushed immediately to Nein and hugging him with worry.
"Clara? What are you doing here? How did you find me?."
"I heard you fell to a hole and I went to look for you. I feel the fibration beneath the ground and immediately digging down to check."
He immediately pull Clara behind him to protect her. Nivalis simply watching from his place, looking at the siblings to see a monster in human skin. He immediately stop the magic and sigh.
"Let's stop here. There's no reason for us to clash, human."
Nein watch and release the smoke before hiding the spear behind him.
"What happened brother?. How the snake talk?." She ask with wonder.
Nein hesitating whether to tell her or not. He sigh and told everything to her about the Path Finder, devine beast and the leviathan. Hearing this, her eyes filled with curiosity. She looks at Nivalis behind them with wonder.
"So the bad feeling the duchess had is indeed in the sea. What should we do now brother?."
"First...we need to tell everyone about this and...leave."
"But why?. We can help them."
"It's not our problem Clara."
"It is brother."
Her words catches his attention. She's not used to being eager with anything especially with something hassle. It confuse him and looking at Nivalis with suspicion. He simply shake his head and is innocent.
"You said that we need to pick up and save big sister. That's your goal so I want to find mine. I...I want to make a world where big sister can live without ever overworking herself to death again. I want to make a place where...where she can laze around and gain weight. A...a place that she's been dreaming of."
Her innocent and genuine speech makes his heart swell. It's appear to be a baseless dream from an overexcited kid, but deep down, she really meant it and will do anything for it. Just like how she died looking for him.
"Clara... it'll be dangerous, you know that. It's a different enemies from our world. Our enemies is capable to hurting us now. Your brother who managed to defend the north alone almost died from fighting an oversized lizard who's dying. And you'll have to make a decisions, something that you really hate."
He's holding her shoulder firmly to convince her. His eyes thoughtful, worried for the same happen to her. It make her sad and lower her head. It pains him but he need to stay strong, he turn around to see Nivalis.
"We'll be leaving now and report all this to the duchess of Kvas. Let's hope they can do something about this, do you fine with this?."
Nivalis ponder for a moment before sighing.
"Very well human. As long as I can protect this land, I'm fine with my existence brought to light. And forgive me for my impatience. I'm still unfamiliar with human bonding."
"I'll go now."
He disappear with Clara into the smoke leaving Nivalis alone. He close his eyes and talk to himself.
"Now I understand why Sylva trust that human so much. He's indeed a peculiar one.
Not even the unknown scared him. I really need to change my approach with human."
As they returned to the city, Nein immediately make his reports and shocked everyone once again with their discovery. The room fall into chaos about how dire the situation is. The siblings leave the room after the discussion goes deeper. They walk through the snowy road side by side.
"I know you want to help. But trust me, even if we does helping in this matter, people will still losing their lives and if we does win. We'll make this world revolve around us. It's not something for us as an outsider to -"
She slap his hand reaching for her head and it caught him off.
"Why haven't you changed?. Always do what you think is right and abandon the rest. You always think it's all about you and thinking you can make out of it as long as you survives. Always ignoring big sister concern and making her stressing out...just because you're untouchable do you think you're invincible?. You've died once you...YOU STUPID BROTHER!!"
"Wait Clara -."
She running away from him out of frustration making him recalling the past again. The time where he always returned wounded and standing Infront of their sister and letting her patching his wounds while nagging him.
"You ungrateful little brother, how many times do I have to tell you to not pushing yourself too hard!." Her voice harsh as she treating him.
"I'm sorry."
"Yeah, yeah. Keep apologizing until only your head returned you stubborn bastard!."
Despite her harsh word. Her finger trembles the more she saw his scarred skins. Every lines crisscrossing that she put back together alone.
"Now, you better rest or I'll beat the shit out of you myself. You hear me?."
He's silent when she's standing Infront of him and nagging him furiously. He simply nods without even looking at her face. He laying down on the bed and do as she said just because he really tired. Seeing his usual indifferent making her jaw tighten.
"Doctor Sara, there's still a patient needed your attention...are you okay, doc?."
Ask one of the nurse seeing her teary eyes he never realized. Despite all the nagging she throw at him, she's just really worried about him and is grieving for all the weight he carries alone. She wipe her tears and take a deep breath before turning around to do her job.
"I'm fine. Take me to the next patient and...make sure he doesn't sneak out from this room."
Clara's used to this scene now but not quite understand it. Back then, Nein never really close with them and prefer to be alone, but since they're working from the same agency, they've been seeing each other so often but not really try to get along. Or at least that what he thought and he was wrong.
