Chapter 17 - The Shattered Future

After confronting their inner selves and accepting their powers, Ken and Lucy finally awoke.

Luna's eyes lit up with relief, and she immediately enveloped them both in a tight embrace.

"You had me worried… What happened to you?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly with concern.

"I spoke with the God of Darkness," Ken began, still catching his breath. His fists clenched at his sides as he tried to process everything. "He said I am his reincarnation—Kuruzen Renji—and passed all his power and knowledge to me."

"I, too," Lucy added softly, her voice shaky, "was spoken to by Emelyra Scarlet. She said I am her reincarnation, and, like Ken, she entrusted me with all her power and knowledge."

The two of them recounted everything in detail to Luna.

"Hmmm… so that's how it is," said the Grimoire, floating gently in the air, its presence radiating calm authority.

"You are the reincarnations of two gods. That explains why the spells within me were meant specifically for you."

Both Ken and Lucy stared in shock, blinking rapidly as if trying to convince themselves it was real.

"Huh… a talking book?" they exclaimed at the same time, their voices a mix of awe and disbelief.

"That is Crescent, a Grimoire," Luna explained, a small smile tugging at her lips.

"I am said to be his master. All the spells that entered your bodies originated from him."

"How are you?" Crescent asked softly.

"Ah… we're okay," the two replied, still wide-eyed, feeling a mix of nervousness and awe.

"Do you want to try the spells outside the Library?" Crescent asked, a faint glimmer of curiosity in his tone.

"Yes!" they answered in unison, excitement laced with nervous anticipation.

Gradually, the seemingly infinite Library began to shrink, its vast halls folding inward like a mirage.

As the Library diminished, a door appeared—silent, unassuming, yet inviting. It slowly swung open.

When they stepped outside, they were met with devastation. The landscape was shattered, scarred by an unimaginable force.

Even the Library, which had seemed boundless, now seemed impossibly small in comparison to the ruined world.

Luna's breath caught. Her eyes darted around anxiously. "What happened here?"

Crescent floated beside them, calm as ever.

"The hidden Library exists above the Earth, suspended in the heavens. From here, we can see everything. I already knew what you would ask."

"We are on Planet Earth, your very own world," Crescent added.

"It is not true that this world comes from another dimension. This is your true original world."

Shock rippled through all three of them.

"Huh… I don't understand," Luna admitted, confusion knitting her brow.

"You are on Earth… from the future," Crescent said solemnly.

The weight of that revelation sank heavily.

"What happened here? Why is this world destroyed?" Lucy asked, her voice barely above a whisper, trembling with unease.

"In the past, time flowed in only one direction," Crescent explained.

"There was only a single timeline—no past, no future."

The three listened intently, eyes wide, as Crescent's words painted a grim picture.

"But now… the Zodiacs have broken free. They have already destroyed several planets and celestial bodies across the cosmos."

"The former Zodiacs, who once fought amongst themselves for power, have now united under a single leader—Leo, the strongest of all."

A cold wind swept through the ruins, carrying whispers of the lives lost.

"But there was one woman who fought. She was not as strong as any of the Zodiacs, yet she had the courage to try to stop and save Earth from destruction."

"However, her efforts were not enough.

The Zodiacs won effortlessly."

"I do not know what the Zodiacs truly need on Earth," Crescent explained, his tone calm but serious, "but I know they are searching for something they need, which is why they are destroying the world so completely."

Lucy and Ken exchanged uneasy glances. Their stomachs churned with dread.

"Even though she was weak and exhausted, the woman used the last of her strength to create a book… and list the magical spells within it. I am that book," Crescent continued, his voice steady, almost reverent.

"I did not know her personally, but I am aware of what followed, thanks to the power that was given to me."

"After gaining awareness, I began to perceive the flow of time… and noticed irregularities."

"My suspicion is that the one who created me used forbidden magic—to return to the past."

"Two timelines were formed, which is why time here moves differently," Crescent explained. "Meanwhile, time in your timeline moves faster. One minute here equals five minutes in your timeline."

Ken's jaw tightened. Lucy's eyes widened, their minds struggling to keep pace with the revelations.

"My suspicion is that the woman who gave me life is still alive, but her existence is bound only to your timeline," Crescent concluded, his voice steady and filled with authority.
