Chapter 10 - chapter nine

Week two and I think I like the course I am on. Ups and downs are obviously there but I like it more than I'd thought I would.

It's Thursday, that's almost a week of him gone... I missed my roommate... I don't think anyone can fault me with that. He said he'd be here soon, when was soon?

"Let's go get lunch."

"A minute."

Today the tutor had given us a 'free period'. It was just a period to use on a project he'd wanted to check the progress on. Cue the large number of students during lunch period.

Though our class seems to always have students... whichever year they were in.

Remember when I talked about soon, I hadn't had this soon in mind. My head was occupied with pattern making. We had a skirt pattern to work on, make sure it was prim before handing it over. Then we'd get to a full scale pattern for construction. It was the progress that had to be checked on this afternoon.

This really didn't get me in the mood for courtship... during lunch hour, that I had basically decided to go to because Riley had called to nag about it. I don't think he wanted me to take a break so someone else would tell me how pretty I am, right? We should have gone with Rashid when he'd freakin' asked... wait, was he the one who told Riley I hadn't gone for lunch... snitch!

Ever been told you were cute while angry, it's hella frustrating. Reading it in books makes it seem nice, those actors in movies also act like it's the best thing but truth is it's annoying.

"I am seriously not in the mood right now. Go find someone else."

"But I only like you. My friends think your friends are also pretty good looking. Aren't we a great match?"

Match? In hell? Fricking self-centered bastards, so if they like me, they stop me from my business. Basically stealing my time and peace of mind... okay. I can create time.

"You think so?"

I asked while looking around. The place was deserted so nice spot selection whether things go their way or ours. I think they had planned this all along, corner us and get us to do their whim. But it's not everyday we go out of school or even use this alleyway... who cares.

I turn to Taffy and Nicole wondering whether they were ready, afterall, they might not be entirely gunning for a fight. But Taffy was smiling.

Maybe I hadn't said this before but the one thing that I think got Taffy and I close was the Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon free periods in the gym... boxing gym to be exact.

Something I don't think I want Riley to know about. Not that it was wrong but because I think I have a persona to keep.

First Tuesday, I had gone to the closest gym, to get my membership and I'd found Taffy there in work out clothes. He'd seemed shocked, even asked if I was looking for someone... shouldn't I ask the same?

"We doing this or what?"

Oh, I like this girl, my kind of party animal. Is it bad to like some things on the side?

Technically not the type that gets people reeling but you get the gist.

"Is this really okay?"

"Didn't you call me to watch a show?"

Who's that girl by the way, never seen her with them and he's also never talked about her during our calls.

"I didn't call you to watch... I was asking what I could do about it."

"I'll go in, you stay hidden."

"Is this really a proper way to surprise someone on your return?"

"No, it's so that he can stop hiding his real self from me."

He knew Quint had someone following him so it was noone's fault that this was already out. I don't want it eating at him on how to hide it or explain it so better do it while it was still getting adrenaline through him.

I'd thought of surprising him... but there had been an issue and I got delayed which meant taking the next flight. I'd wanted to get him lunch, I was even carrying take out but then he'd not agreed to follow Rashid so...

I had been on my way to the dorm when I'd gotten a call from Quint... seriously, how was he this free? His lessons were always back to back yet he always seemed to be...umm, readily available, not that I was complaining... I was but not at the moment when he came handy.

I walked out of the 'hiding' spot not sure how to make my presence known, how many meters so he wouldn't run, I am sure he'd really do that... like a frightened rabbit...or a cat. The alley wasn't that long, how fast could he run? Was he faster than me, he seemed fit for someone who was that soft. I coughed out a few steps in... nothing!

"Blane!"

I watch as he freezes, his leg on someone's arm seems to have used too much force as the guy screams out. I could see every minute reaction as he turned around towards the voice he'd heard. I could see the wheels turning as he looked at the situation they were in then back at me before he let go and turned, ready to sprint.

Good thing I had been ready, the force he was using for that input... I don't think I'd have gotten to him as fast. I took off right behind him in seconds and got my arms secured around him as he thrashed around telling me to let him go.

He was trembling... hard and for some reason I could feel every emotion he was feeling.
