"The competitors for the P1 Grand Prix are now entering the arena! Let's welcome the Hitmonchan known as the 'Fighting Machine', and its trainer, Anthony!"
The P1 Grand Prix had begun. Ash and Brock had both registered for the tournament. Of course, Ash knew exactly how Brock's Geodude was going to get absolutely thrashed later. He knew very well that this was a Fighting-type tournament. Sending out a Rock-type was just asking for a death wish, wasn't it?
However, Ash then glanced at Anthony's Hitmonchan and nodded. The hidden injuries on Hitmonchan's body had already been healed, so when they fought later, he could let Primeape beat it up without any reservations. Following that, Ash looked toward the second group of candidates.
With a numb expression, Ash said to the Primeape beside him, "Let's go beat up that Hitmonlee's trainers together later."
"Roar?" (What's up?)
Ash looked at the giant who was obviously just Team Rocket stacked on top of each other, feeling a bit speechless. At the same time, he felt like everyone here needed to get their eyes checked. Right when Ash was left speechless, the announcer finished introducing Brock.
"And the next competitor is... Oh! It's the sponsor of our Grand Prix, Mr. Ash from the Continental Hotel, and his Primeape! Thank you to the Hotel for supporting the P1 Grand Prix!"
Ash was completely stunned. He sponsored the P1 Grand Prix himself? While Ash was standing there dumbfounded, Pikachu pulled out a receipt, and Meowth quietly whispered, "Boss, you forgot. We really are the ones backing this Grand Prix. The goal was to find some good prospects for the security department, meow."
"Oh, I remember now. Because the sponsorship fee wasn't even a fraction of my pocket money, I barely kept it in mind."
Afterward, Ash and Primeape entered the arena. Because of the announcer's earlier introduction, Ash received a warm, enthusiastic welcome as soon as he stepped out. After all, everyone here was a fan of fighting-type battles. They were very grateful to the person who could sponsor the P1 Grand Prix.
Jessie and the others looked at Ash, also feeling speechless. They still remembered the fiery scenes from before, which definitely wasn't something Hitmonlee could withstand.
Jessie muttered, "Damn it. That twerp is actually here. Looks like we need to make some preparations."
Meowth: "Agreed, meow."
James: "I say... Can we switch positions?"
"First match! Primeape versus Machop!"
Looking at the opposing Machop, Ash observed it for a moment before saying to Primeape, "That Machop across from us is raised quite well. Its strength is outstanding, so we'll rely on speed and swift attacks for this battle."
"Roar!"
"Go, Machop! Use Karate Chop!"
"Ma-chop!"
Watching Machop charge toward Primeape, Ash immediately ordered, "Stick to the plan!"
"Roar!"
Primeape listened to Ash's advice and didn't attack directly. Instead, it relied on its footwork to continuously dodge Machop's attacks. At the same time, it secretly used Focus Energy, its eyes locked dead onto Machop.
"Damn it, this Primeape is completely different from a normal Primeape!"
Machop's trainer also noticed the difference in this Primeape, but there was nothing he could do. Ash's Primeape was simply too agile. It easily dodged all of Machop's forceful attacks. Meanwhile, Ash's Primeape seized the perfect moment to quickly close the distance and land a punch right on Machop's weak spot.
"Ma-chop!"
Pained, Machop paused for a split second. Seeing that Primeape's attack had landed successfully, Ash shouted, "Now's the time!"
"Roar!!!"
Even though Primeape's hands looked like boxing gloves now, it had, after all, evolved from a Mankey. It was absolutely impossible for it to forget its scratching skills. Therefore, under the barrage of Fury Swipes, Machop was visibly losing its stamina. Seeing this, Ash didn't let up and yelled, "Grab it! Then use Seismic Toss!"
"Roar!"
"Oh no!"
When Machop's trainer saw that Machop couldn't react in time, he knew it was over. Primeape hoisted up the Machop—who couldn't even open its eyes because its face had been scratched up—and executed a Seismic Toss.
"Ma-chop..."
The massive impact completely drained the already injured Machop of its remaining stamina. Consequently, Machop lay on the ground, unable to battle.
"Whoa! Primeape has taken down Machop with a relentless storm of attacks!"
"Good job, take a rest and have a drink." Seeing the drink Ash had prepared for it, Primeape nodded happily.
