"The next match will be Geodude versus Hitmonlee! Now then, both of you please get ready to begin!"
Looking at the Hitmonlee opposite Brock, Ash knew Brock was screwed this time. The Hitmonlee that Team Rocket had found was trained very well.
As the match started, Geodude and Hitmonlee both charged toward each other. Meanwhile, Brock actually still had the time to suck up to Rebecca in the audience.
"Rebecca! Watch me! I'm going to fight for you!"
"Watch out!"
"Huh?"
Hearing Rebecca's warning, Brock turned his head in confusion, only to see Geodude's head getting larger and larger right in front of his eyes.
Bang!
"Aaahhhhh!!!"
Accompanied by Brock's tragic scream, Geodude struck him dead center on his forehead.
Ash couldn't bear to look at the situation, turning his head away and saying, "Oh god! Too cruel! I can't watch. Come here, Primeape, let me massage your muscles for you."
"Roar!" (Alright!)
While Ash was massaging Primeape's muscles to adjust its condition, Brock's Geodude on the other side was receiving an inhumane beating—a continuous barrage of savage kicks. The special diet Ash had given Brock had improved Geodude's defense, so getting knocked out was just a matter of time. Ash had no intention of stopping it; it was about time Brock learned his lesson. Thinking this, Ash peeled an orange and gave pieces to the Pokémon beside him. The only one that needed special attention was Ash's Psyduck. This lazy bum didn't even bother catching it; it just opened its mouth, waiting to be fed.
As for Brock's side, watching his Geodude getting kicked frantically, he was powerless to help. However, at this moment, Anthony walked over, handed him a red towel, and said, "A true man knows when to honestly admit defeat. Wherever you fall down..."
Before Anthony could finish, Ash spoke faintly from the sidelines, "Friendly reminder: he's trying to hit on your daughter. That's who he was fighting for just now. 'Wherever you fall down, you might as well just stay on the ground! Don't ever get back up!'"
In the end, Brock accepted the red towel from a dark-faced Anthony and chose to forfeit.
Ash and Brock checked on Geodude together. Finding that it wasn't seriously hurt, Brock hugged Geodude and said, "You've worked hard, little guy. I'll polish you up nice and clean later."
"Here's some wax. This is specially made for Rock-type Pokémon, and it'll help with the recovery. I hope you remember this lesson and stop showing off blindly."
"Thanks, Ash."
In the subsequent matches, Ash's Primeape, Anthony's Hitmonchan, and Team Rocket's Hitmonlee all advanced easily. However, there was one team that caught Ash's attention. It was a Machoke and a guy with his body covered by a cloak. Judging from the physique, he looked incredibly buff.
Ash patted Primeape, who was eating to replenish its stamina, pointed at the Machoke, and said, "See that Machoke over there? It has already reached the Elite Four tier of strength. To defeat it, we have to rely on special techniques. Otherwise, in terms of sheer power and speed, there's absolutely no way to compare with it. Although you've reached the peak of the Elite tier through your battles in the wild and my training, if the opponent is at the Elite Four level, it's not something that can be resolved with brute force alone. However, this is also your chance. Your chance to break through to that next step..."
"Roar!" (Understood!)
Following that, Ash and Primeape faced their next opponents: Team Rocket's Hitmonlee.
"Yo, you two from Team Rocket, we meet again!"
"Roar!" (Long time no see!)
Looking at Ash and Primeape across from them, who looked like they were ready to beat someone up at any moment, Jessie and James stopped pretending. Instead, they backed away and hugged each other, shivering.
Seeing how terrified the two looked, Ash turned to Hitmonlee and asked, "They aren't your trainers, are they? Why are you listening to their orders?"
"Hitmon-lee."
After hearing Hitmonlee's words, Meowth suddenly realized and translated, "Oh. So you were just rented to participate in the fighting tournament. To you, it doesn't matter who the trainer is; you're just specifically here to compete!"
"Hitmon-lee!" (That's right.)
Hearing Hitmonlee say this, Ash nodded in understanding and said, "No wonder. In that case, let's have a good fight!"
"Roar!" (Let's fight!)
