In the past, if someone had told A that a fifteen-year-old rookie trainer possessed a full team of Elite-level Pokémon, A would have beaten them until they couldn't manage their basic bodily functions. But right now, standing right in front of him, was exactly that person.
Ash, the guy who had consecutively captured two of his top subordinates. Initially, A thought Ash capturing his men was just dumb luck. But now, A finally started to take Ash seriously.
"Elite-level Pokémon... it seems I misjudged you. But do you honestly think your ragtag team can defeat my Pseudo-Legendaries? Get them!"
"Roar!" x6
At A's command, the six Pseudo-Legendaries charged at Ash's Pokémon. Ash just smiled. "Arbok, Arcanine, fall back and protect Suzie and the girls. Meowth, Chansey, you guys jump in! Pikachu, destroy the ship!"
"Understood!"
"Lucky!" (Let's fight!)
"Pika-pi!" (Tear down the ship? Hell yeah!)
With Ash's order, Meowth and the others picked their targets. Gardevoir faced off directly against Salamence. Arcanine took on Kommo-o. Beedrill matched up with Tyranitar. Meowth clashed with Hydreigon, Rapidash charged at Metagross, and Chansey went toe-to-toe with Garchomp.
Meanwhile, Pikachu pulled out a small coin, flipped it into the air, and...
"Pika~chu!" (Railgun)
As a massive beam of destructive light tore through the air, A finally understood exactly what Ash meant by 'destroy the ship'.
"Damn it! Everyone abandon ship!"
"Waah!"
"What the hell is that Pikachu?!"
"It's a monster!"
BOOM!
With a catastrophic explosion, A's airship was shot right out of the sky. At the same time, the Continental Hotel employees unleashed their own Pokémon into the fray. They might not be qualified to fight Elite-level foes, but they were more than enough to handle A's grunts. A's men sent out their Pokémon too, but the Continental Hotel staff was clearly far more vicious.
Thus, A could only pray his Pseudo-Legendaries would quickly wipe out Ash's team. As for losing? In A's mind, his Pokémon were Pseudo-Legendaries. Even if Ash's Pokémon were Elite-level too, compared to Pseudo-Legendaries, they weren't even fit to carry their shoes!
But was that really the case?
"Roar!"
When Salamence scored a direct hit on Gardevoir with Dragon Pulse, a victorious smirk crept onto A's face. See? One down already!
But before A could even speak, Gardevoir's figure slowly emerged from the dust cloud. She hadn't taken a single scratch.
"How is that possible?! That was my Salamence's Dragon Pulse!"
Looking at A's absolute disbelief, Ash—who was casually hanging back with Misty, Suzie, and Lara—just threw him a glance before returning to giving the girls a play-by-play of the battle.
The Hunter Organization had mostly operated in the Hoenn region. Even A's Kommo-o was something he had stolen and mind-controlled from someone else. Because of this, he was completely oblivious to a crucial fact: Dragon-types had an ultimate nemesis, the Fairy-type. And Fairy-types were completely immune to Dragon-type moves.
Perhaps a massive level gap could allow a Dragon to damage a Fairy, but Ash's Gardevoir was an Elite! She wasn't like those standard Elite Pokémon riddled with hidden or suffering from unstable foundations after a promotion. With Ash, a super-doctor, as her trainer, his Pokémon had it immensely easier than others. Hidden injuries? Massages and custom potions were always on standby. Unstable foundations? No problem, your trainer literally manufactures Rare Candies—eat until your foundation is rock solid!
Therefore, even though Ash's Gardevoir and A's Salamence were both Elite-level, their physical specs were worlds apart. Relying on Dragon-type moves, Salamence simply couldn't hurt Ash's Gardevoir.
"Gar!" (It's over!)
A multicolored sphere of light condensed in Gardevoir's hands. With a light toss, the orb rapidly homed in on Salamence.
"Salamence, dodge it!"
Although A didn't know what attack Gardevoir was using, the fact she had tanked his attack without a scratch had put him on high alert. He immediately ordered Salamence to evade.
Watching A, Ash just shook his head.
"Ash, what is it?" Misty asked, puzzled by his reaction.
Ash smiled and explained, "Dodging is useless. 'Naughty Fairy' tracks the enemy automatically."
"'Naughty Fairy'?" Misty repeated the name, still not quite understanding.
"It's a custom Fairy-type move I created. If you have time later, we can see if any of your Pokémon can learn it. It's incredibly effective against Dragon-types."
While Ash was talking, the orb Gardevoir fired pursued Salamence as if it had a life of its own, slamming into it and triggering a violent explosion.
Salamence crashed to the ground. Seeing the downed dragon, Gardevoir raised her hands and formed several more orbs of light.
"Gar!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The poor Salamence was subjected to a relentless carpet-bombing of Fairy-type attacks. The sheer brutality of it made even Ash wince and turn away.
"Good lord, that's too brutal. Gardevoir is blasting it again just to make sure it doesn't have the strength for a zombie revival!"
"Gar!" (Yes, Darling!)
Gardevoir's little inner schemes never took a day off.
