"Officer Jenny, I'll leave these guys in your hands. I need to head back and make dinner."
"Alright, thanks for your help, Ash. But what happened to them...?"
Jenny slightly covered her nose. The unconscious Wang and his thugs were emitting a very distinct smell of 'shit'.
Maybe because he farted too much, when Squirtle unleashed the Earth-Shattering Radish Fart on Wang, he accidentally followed through and squirted a little extra out. Either way, the stench on Wang was overwhelmingly potent.
As for Squirtle adding some "personal touches" for Wang, Ash was highly encouraging. Squirtle did a fantastic job! Ash loved making his enemies suffer absolute, downright rotten luck!
Because of this, Ash specifically prepared a feast that night to reward Squirtle! He really did an unbelievably good job.
Don't think Ash didn't have a temper. Calling him a foolish kid? You really think he's that nice? Not knocking his teeth out was already showing respect for his old age.
After handing Wang and the thugs over to Officer Jenny, Ash and the gang returned to the old granny's place. The granny smiled and asked, "Looks like everything is resolved?"
"Yeah, it's all handled. But Granny, do I really act like a foolish kid normally?"
Thinking about what Wang had said, Ash wondered what was going through the guy's head. The granny chuckled and said, "Honestly, you kinda do. When you come around, to a lot of people you just look like a reckless youth. Who would've thought you were the one hiding the deepest secrets?"
Hearing the granny's assessment, Lara nodded in agreement. "True. When it comes to acting like a newbie, Ash is an authority. Lots of people have been fooled by that look of his."
"...I just do that so the enemy doesn't know my true strength, setting them up for a one-hit kill..."
"I feel like you don't even need to hide your strength, Ash."
Misty thought about her boyfriend's off-the-charts combat power and wondered what the point of hiding even was. Ash smiled and explained, "Let me give you an example. When an enemy thinks I'm weak and sneaks up on me, and I suddenly reveal my strength and hit them with a kidney punch—wouldn't you say that feels deeply satisfying?"
"...As long as you're happy."
Misty helplessly massaged her temples. Her boyfriend's thought process was truly... 'unique'.
That evening, Ash kept his promise and made an exclusive feast for Squirtle and Psyduck. They ate heartily—Squirtle had emptied his stomach with all that farting, and Psyduck just loved the food. During dinner, everyone finally met Cassandra's Pokémon: Paras.
This Paras was very timid and extremely clingy towards Ash and Cassandra. It seemed only the two of them could give it a sense of security.
"Alright Paras, you're a big kid now. You can't always be this timid, you know? Although Cassandra's martial arts are great, she can't protect you forever. You need to learn how to protect her now."
"Goo!" (But I'm scared...)
Hearing Meowth's translation, Ash smiled, patted Paras's head, and said, "Being scared isn't terrible. What's terrible is not having the courage to fight back. Don't worry, I'll make you brave."
Saying this, Ash's smile turned slightly sinister. Seeing this smile, Cassandra, Lara, Misty, and Suzie knew Paras was in for a bad time.
Though Cassandra could guess what kind of treatment her Paras would receive, for the sake of making Paras braver, she had to endure the pain of letting it suffer a bit. After all, Cassandra had absolute trust in Ash, her childhood friend.
On the other side, the granny was chatting with Brock.
"You've gained some good knowledge traveling with that kid Ash, haven't you?"
Asked this, Brock paused his eating but nodded. "Yeah. Ash is incredibly strong in both breeding and general knowledge. Honestly, I've learned a lot from him. It made me realize there are true masters out there in the world..."
Thinking of that old man who spent his whole life accompanying Snorlaxes, Brock smiled. It was truly admirable. That old man accomplished things many could not.
Hearing Brock's thoughts, the granny smiled and nodded. "Mhm, seems you understand. Ash will always be like that. Young people like him are rare these days..."
She shook her head helplessly, as it was the truth. Brock comforted her, "That's just a few people. Most still understand the importance of their elders."
"Hehe, you've got a sweet mouth. Since you're such a sweet-talker, give me your hand."
"Eh? Granny, what are you doing?"
Though confused, Brock complied. The granny looked at his palm, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Oh my, you've got quite the luck with women in your future. Stick with Ash. Down in the Southern Islands, you'll find three fateful encounters. Do your best!"
"Oh oh oh! Is this palm reading?!"
Brock had some "understanding" of palm reading. It was considered a major characteristic of the Kanto region.
And just while Brock was getting so excited about his "fateful encounters" in the Southern Islands that he could hardly sleep, Ash had already taken Paras to begin its so-called training.
"Paras! No one can save you now! You have to save yourself!"
"Goo!!"
Standing in front of Paras was Ash's Charizard, who was constantly advancing on it. The timid Paras wanted to run to Cassandra, but Cassandra was currently being held tight in Ash's arms.
"Don't even think about looking for Cassandra. You must fight back yourself! Charizard, once you're in range, use Flamethrower!"
"Roar!"
Watching Ash's "training," Suzie couldn't help but say, "Looks like... this is the training method used against Ditto..."
Still holding Cassandra, Ash nodded. "Exactly. Play along with me, don't beg for mercy for Paras. She has to learn to fight back now. Cassandra, just watch. This is for Paras to learn how to protect herself."
Held in Ash's embrace, Cassandra's face flushed slightly, but she nodded. "Mhm, I know. Paras really does need to grow up."
And so, under Ash's fear-based training method, Paras finally learned to fight back! Although her counterattack was easily caught by Charizard, Ash and Cassandra stepped forward, rubbed her head, and said, "Isn't that great? From now on, you're going to start protecting Cassandra."
"Goo!"
Perhaps because of the praise, Paras's body suddenly began to glow, and she evolved! Seeing Paras evolve, Ash and Cassandra immediately locked eyes.
"Meowth! Get the tools! Hurry! Paras is evolving!"
"What? Understood, meow!"
Hearing that Paras was evolving and understanding the gravity of the situation, Meowth immediately pulled out his tools. As soon as Parasect appeared before them, Ash and Cassandra pinned her down, and Meowth rapidly sliced the huge mushroom off Parasect's back.
Seeing the mushroom removed, Cassandra quickly asked, "Parasect, are you okay?"
"Goo!" (Thank you)
Parasect nodded and nuzzled affectionately against Cassandra and Ash. Seeing that Parasect was fine, everyone who knew the context finally breathed a sigh of relief.
