Pov Josiane...
"No don't think like that "Josie said softly
"Fine !! "Kaela said .
Josie lay on her bed staring at the ceiling, her mind unusually restless.
The hostel room was dim and peaceful.
Her roommate had already fallen asleep, and the soft hum of the fan filled the silence.
Josie turned to her side and hugged her pillow.
So much had happened lately...
New freaking warning...
New people.
New feelings.
But nothing felt clear enough to understand.
I remembered that canteen laughter…
Noah's warm smile…
Cain's quiet, unreadable eyes…
"Why does everything feel connected somehow?" she murmured.
Her eyes slowly grew heavy.
Without finding any answers, she drifted into sleep.
Sunlight slipped through the curtains.
Josie blinked awake and checked her phone.
Sunday.
No classes.
She stretched lazily and sat up.
Her roommate wasn't in the room.
"Where did she go this early…" Josie wondered.
After getting ready and tying her hair, she stepped out into the quiet corridor.
The campus felt calmer than usual.
Maybe some time alone would help.
"Library," she decided softly.
The morning air was cool as she walked down the pathway.
Just as she turned near the academic block, someone stepped in front of her.
A girl.
Tall. Confident. Sharp eyes.
"You're Josiana, right?" the girl asked.
Josie nodded. "Yes…and how do u know now ??"
"I've seen you around and your roommate is my friend so i heard things.."
Josie smiled politely. "Oh."
Thegirl's expression didn't change.
"Stay away from Cain."
Josie blinked. "Excuse me?"
"I mean it," the girl said firmly. "Don't go near him."
Josie frowned. "I don't even know him properly."
"Good. Keep it that way."
Josie crossed her arms slightly. "Why?"
The girl hesitated. "Just… don't. You're new here. You don't understand things yet."
"That's not a reason."
The girl looked annoyed. "Do whatever you want."
She turned and walked away.
Josie stood there, confused.
"That was weird…"
Stay away from Cain?
But why?
Shaking the thought off, she continued toward the library.
The library was nearly empty.
Soft sunlight filtered through tall windows, and the silence felt comforting.
Josie walked between shelves slowly, running her fingers along book spines.
Then she saw him.
Cain.
Sitting alone at a corner table, flipping through a book.
Like he didn't care about the world around him.
Josie hesitated… then walked closer.
"Can I sit here?" she asked gently.
Cain looked up and gave a small nod. "Sure."
She sat across from him.
For a moment, neither spoke.
"So… you come here often?" she asked.
"Sometimes. It's quiet."
Josie smiled faintly. "Yeah… I like it too."
She noticed the book in his hands.
It looked old. Different. { Differ from that day }
"Interesting choice," she said.
Cain glanced at the cover. "You notice details."
"I try to."
A small pause..
Then Josie asked casually, "You know Linux right?"
Cain leaned back slightly. "Of course."
"He seems… popular."
"He's more than that," Cain said. "He's the Head Prefect here."
Josie's eyes widened. "Wait— really?"
Cain nodded. "Student Council President. Top of the leadership board."
Josie blinked in surprise.
Noah never mentioned it.
He acted so normal.
"Oh…"
Cain watched her expression quietly. "Didn'thetell you?"
She shook her head slowly.
Astrange feeling rose in her chest.
Why didn't Linux say something so important?
Students respect him.
Teachers trust him.
He leads the entire student body…
And still he sat with her like it was nothing.
Josie looked down at the table.
Everything felt deeper than it seemed.
The warning.
The stares.
The silence between words.
She glanced at Cain again.
He was already watching her.
Not smiling.
Just observing.
And somehow…
That felt even more mysterious.
After talking withCain, Josie tried to focus on her book.
Minutes turned into hours.
The quiet rustle of pages and soft footsteps filled the library as time slipped away.
But her mind wasn't fully on the words.
Thoughts kept drifting—
Linux being the Head Prefect.
The strange warning from that girl.
Cain's calm but unreadable presence.
Everything felt normal… yet not.
Finally, she closed the book with a soft sigh.
"I need some freshair," she whispered to herself.
She packed her things and walked out of the library.
The campus park was peaceful in the late afternoon.
Golden sunlight filtered through the trees, and a cool breeze moved gently across the grass.
The place felt almost empty.
Only three or four people were scattered around.
Josie walked slowly along the stone path, enjoying the quiet.
Then she stopped.
Nearthe far bench—
Kaela and Cain.
They were standing close, talking about something seriously.
Josie narrowed her eyes slightly.
Kaela looked tense. Cain looked calm as always.
BeforeJosie could think much—
A group of students passed in front of her for just a second.
And when her view cleared…
They were gone.
Josie blinked.
"…What?"
She looked around.
Empty bench.
Empty path.
No sign of them.
"Maybe they just left quickly," she murmured.
She shook her head lightly.
"I'm overthinking again.
Trying to ignore the strange feeling, she continued walking.
But the silence of the park suddenly felt heavier.
Too still.
Too watchful.
A faint chill ran down her spine
Something about this place…
I really want to find out.....
Then ..
To be continued....
