Unexpected Visitors
The next morning, the academy gates opened for a group of traveling mages. They claimed to be merchants and scholars seeking access to the academy library.
Most students ignored them.
Kael didn't.
The moment he saw them, his instincts screamed that something was wrong. Their mana felt strange—too controlled, too careful.
Seraphine confirmed his suspicion later.
"They're not merchants," she said.
"They're scouts."
Kael leaned against the wall of the training hall.
"Void Hunters?"
Seraphine nodded.
"They want to confirm your power before making a move."
Kael smirked slightly.
"Then maybe I should give them a show."
Seraphine raised an eyebrow.
"Don't underestimate them."
But Kael's eyes glowed faintly with purple light.
"Don't worry," he said calmly.
"If they came to see the Abyss…"
"I'll let them see it."
