A New Mission
The next morning all senior academy students were gathered in the central hall.
Professor Valen stood before them.
"Because of the recent attack," he announced, "we will begin a special expedition."
A large map appeared behind him.
"There are ancient ruins located several days north of the academy."
The room filled with murmurs.
"These ruins were once part of an old magical civilization," Valen continued.
"Recently, monsters have begun appearing in large numbers there."
Kael studied the map carefully.
Something about those ruins felt familiar.
Valen's eyes briefly met Kael's.
"You will investigate the ruins and eliminate the monsters."
Kael had a strange feeling.
This mission might reveal more about the Abyss than anyone expected.
