Echoes of the Past
The group decided to explore deeper into the ruin chamber before leaving.
Ancient hallways stretched beneath the broken structures above. Strange carvings decorated the walls—symbols that looked very similar to the abyss runes Kael had seen earlier.
Seraphine carefully traced one of the symbols with her finger.
"These markings describe battles," she said.
Leon leaned closer to inspect the carvings.
"Battles against who?"
Seraphine pointed toward one part of the wall.
A group of warriors stood carved into the stone, facing enormous shadow creatures.
"These were not normal enemies," she explained. "The Abyss King fought beings that existed beyond this world."
Kael frowned slightly.
"You mean demons?"
Seraphine shook her head.
"Something older."
As they continued walking, Kael began feeling something strange. The abyss energy within him reacted to the ruins more strongly with every step.
Eventually they reached a circular chamber.
In the center stood another ancient structure.
A pedestal.
And resting on it was a small black artifact.
The moment Kael saw it, he knew one thing instantly.
That artifact was meant for him.
