26th death
West looked at the hunched figure of the deer.
His knife hesitated to move but taking a deep breath he finally made up his mind.
The knife plunged into the tree and blood oozed from its wound.
The blood dripped continuously from the knife wound he made, he put his finger against its flow and lifted it to his nose.
The scent hit almost immediately, sharp and metallic like iron.
"It really is blood," he muttered, before a warm breeze blowing on his back brought him back to reality.
"I smell it" The last words he heard before everything turned black.
27th death
He stabbed the tree with his knife letting it bleed,
Taking the knife back he searched for a nearby place with a thick layer of leaves.
'I hope this works' West thought. Crisp, sun-bleached leaves in the shade of dull gold covered him, their dry rustle disguising his still form.
Not far away was the tree oozing its sap like blood, he watched it, waiting for the deer.
Moments later it came, the deer walked in all fours and stopped once it reached the tree, it sniffed the trunk for a few seconds before standing upright.
It's figure no more half the tree's size looked around, the stillness of the forest lay reflected in its pitch black eyes.
"Show yourself" Its voice vibrated in its throat.
It began to search but stopped when it heard a chuckle nearby.
It moved in a flash, its hooves digging in the pile of leaves pulling out a scrawny man.
"Any last word?" The deer asked.
West was hanging in the air, his t-shirt gripped tightly by the deer, which strained under his light weight.
"What does it smell like?"
The deer's nose hovered just above West, inhaling the scent of his body.
"It smelled like you" The deer spoke letting go of West.
It stood still for a moment before it raised its hoof above West's body.
"So you're the one who trapped me here!!"
28th death
Looking at the back of the of the deer, West stab his knife at the tree before climbing it.
He crouched at the top and the moment the deer approached to take notice of the blood, West leaped down, knife gripped with both hands aimed at the back of the deer's head
The deer's ears flicked sharply, and it moved backward but West was too fast and the knife sliced through its face. Its left eye is split in half, bleeding.
"Who!!" It roared, looking around before locking its eyes on West.
"...."
Thump
West's heart beat louder seeing the deer's eyes, he could see it, caution hidden behind its gaze.
"It's you!!" It stood up and launched towards West, its muzzle opened larger than its head.
West cursed and tried to leap to the side but he was snatched by its sharp teeth.
West tried to struggle but it was futile, his hands couldn't even make its mouth budge.
The deer raised its head before locking its jaw splitting West in half.
The deer savored the blood dripping at its muzzle before looking at West's upper body.
"You should have let me out!" It screamed, launching one of its hooves at West smashing his head.
29th death.
West trembled, he hung his head back, letting out a mad, echoing laugh that caught everyone's attention.
He raised his trembling palm and clenched it.
"I could still feel it, I was so close" He muttered.
"A-are you okay?" A familiar voice snapped West from his daydream.
"Yes, I've never felt better!" He said with a large smile.
.....
Crouching at the tree, he waited until the deer got close enough before launching himself down.
His knife cut through the air as he descended.
The deer launched itself backward but its eyes were caught with the knife, its eyeball plucked like fruit embedded in its blade.
Blood dripped while West glanced at the knife in his hand.
"I wasn't fast enough" He muttered letting go of the knife and letting himself get eaten alive by the deer.
30th death
Still too slow
31th death
Almost
32th death
Jumping off the tree doesn't grant me the speed I need.
33th death
I found the solution.
34th death
I manage to kill it but..
35th death
.....
39th death
West stood at the top of the tree, his eyes calm, and he waited for the deer while playing with his phone
The moment it showed itself, he drew a sharp breath, muscle tightening.
He dropped his phone a meter behind the deer
"3,2,1" West counted before dropping himself near the tree
Ring!!!
The sharp ring of the alarm echoed through the quiet forest, snapping the deer's attention towards it.
Its head snapped to the side and watched the phone slowly fall.
While the alarm masked the sound of West cutting through the air.
The deer's ears perked, noticing something coming above but before it could move the knife had already slid through the crown of its head.
The impact was so strong that the deer's body pitched forward, crashing toward the ground and letting the knife sink deeper.
"AHHHHHHHHH" It let out a scream, struggling to move but its body had already died the moment its brain was hit.
West gripped the knife tightly, huffing for air as the deer's scream slowly died out.
"Finally" West stood up, his body rocking side to side as he tried to regain balance.
"It's done" He looked at the corpse, a smile spreading on his face.
He grabbed the posters bulging on his pants and dump it all at the deer's corpse
"I've avenged you"
The silence brought him peace but it didn't last long.
West looked around before walking aimlessly.
His eyes dimmed, his shoulder lurched.
"Why am I still here" He shuddered looking around.
Minutes passed of aimlessly wandering when he finally found something that didn't belong in this endless forest.
It was a silhouette of a person.
"I've been waiting for you" A deep, raspy voice greeted him before he could even see what lies behind the shadow.
