Ashes of the Silent War: Shadow of the Leviathans

Chapter 13 – Titans' Reckoning

The sky above the capital of Eryndor was a toxic swirl of smoke, ash, and fire. Shadows of ruined skyscrapers stretched across the streets, fractured by the devastation of the Abyss Titans.

Kael Varden tightened his grip on the plasma-charged Leviathan blade, its energy humming like a living thing. Behemoth towered before him, each clawed step sending tremors through the ground. Its chest fractures glowed faintly, evidence of humanity's assault—but it was far from finished.

Beside Kael, the Leviathan Hunters formed a tight perimeter, their weapons ready to exploit every fracture he found.

"Remember," Kael said, voice low and steady, "the fractures are your only chance. Concentrated strikes, and stay mobile. One mistake, and we're gone."

Seren Vale gave a sharp nod. "Understood. Let's finish this."

Kael vs. Behemoth

The titan roared, swinging its massive claw. Kael leapt onto the debris of a collapsed building and slid down its side, dodging a lethal swipe by mere inches. Sparks and concrete flew in every direction.

He slashed at Behemoth's shoulder fracture, energy lancing across its armor. The monster bellowed in pain and fury, slamming its tail into a nearby plaza and sending debris flying.

Kael rolled, rising behind the titan, and slashed at the fracture along its back. The Leviathan Hunters fired every weapon simultaneously—rail cannons, plasma lances, missiles—targeting the chest and spinal fractures.

Behemoth staggered. Its steps faltered. It roared a sound that echoed across the continent, a mixture of rage and agony.

Kael's exosuit flared as he charged, leaping onto Behemoth's arm. "Time to end this," he muttered. With a swing of his Leviathan blade, he plunged it into the largest fracture near the chest core. Energy erupted violently, throwing him back several meters—but Behemoth fell to one knee, stunned.

Lyra's Extreme Strike

From a rooftop overlooking the southern avenue, Lyra aimed her long-range rail sniper rifle at Colossus' energy conduit. The titan had staggered slightly from her first hit, but now its energy systems were regenerating rapidly.

Lyra adjusted for distance and wind, sweat on her brow. "If I miss… humanity dies," she whispered.

She fired. The round streaked across the skyline, striking the conduit with pinpoint precision. Blue-white energy exploded from Colossus' neck. Sparks and arcs of electricity cascaded across its massive armor. The Titan staggered violently, knocking vehicles and buildings aside in its thrash.

"Direct hit!" Kael shouted, barely pausing to catch his breath. "All units—now! Push while it's down!"

Predator Delta's Rampage

Meanwhile, across the industrial corridors of Virelia, the new Abyss Titan variant—Predator Delta—slashed through the city. Faster and more intelligent than any Leviathan, it leapt from building to building, tearing through armored squads and civilian defenses alike.

Seren Vale's secondary unit scrambled to intercept it, but Predator Delta's claws shredded vehicles like paper. Each movement was calculated, hunting the humans like prey.

Kael spoke urgently over comms. "All Hunters, divide and contain. Delta cannot reach the civilian zones! Lure it toward the Titan traps we set!"

But the beast was relentless, and by nightfall, hundreds of casualties had already fallen.

Adrian Voss' Secret Maneuver

Far away, in the Architect fortress, Adrian Voss watched the global grid of Leviathans. Colossus was staggered, Behemoth crippled, and Predator Delta tearing through cities.

Voss' expression was calm. "Excellent," he murmured.

He pressed a series of controls. Hidden on every continent were dormant Abyss Reactor Nodes, massive energy conduits buried deep under cities and power grids. Voss activated them.

A violent pulse surged through the planet, subtly reinforcing the Titans' energy fields, making them far more resilient.

"Humanity may believe it can fight back," he said. "But now… the Abyss becomes unstoppable."

Across the battlefield, Kael's HUD flickered as energy interference surged from Colossus. The Leviathan Hunters' systems overloaded temporarily. Communication lines stuttered.

"This isn't good," Kael muttered, activating his backup systems.

Lyra's drone feed trembled under the interference. "Kael… their nodes… they're feeding Colossus energy. If we don't hit it again, it'll stabilize and turn the fight completely against us."

Kael gritted his teeth, plasma channels flaring. "Then we hit harder. All units—full engagement. No mercy."

Humanity's Catastrophic Hour

The battle now spanned three cities simultaneously. Behemoth faltered under Kael's blade, but Colossus grew stronger with every pulse from the Architect nodes. Predator Delta tore through Virelia with lethal efficiency.

Civilians were fleeing wherever possible, but chaos reigned. Buildings crumbled, bridges collapsed, and fires spread uncontrollably.

Kael and the Leviathan Hunters fought tooth and nail, pushing back Behemoth and temporarily restraining Colossus. But humanity's defenses were stretched thin.

Lyra's voice, tense but determined, came over the comm. "Kael… this is it. One shot at the core while it's engaged with Behemoth—this could destabilize the entire system… or it could destroy everything around us."

Kael clenched his jaw, gripping his Leviathan blade. "Then let's make it count. For humanity."

The skies burned with fire. The streets shook under the weight of monsters. The Second Leviathan War had reached its most catastrophic battle yet, and the fate of the continents—and the survival of humanity—hung in the balance.
