Chapter 151 - March of War: The Serpent

Deep beneath the endless sands of Loulan, something stirred.

It was not machinery, nor was it a simple malfunction within the ancient ruins.

It was something alive.

Rasa was the first to sense it.

A heavy vibration spread through the underground chamber like the pulse of a massive beast awakening from slumber. The tremor was deep enough to shake the stone beneath his feet, and the moment he felt it, his expression darkened.

Something was wrong.

Beside him, Chiyo immediately began analyzing the Dragon Vein's fluctuations. Streams of energy flowed across the monitoring seals and instruments surrounding the chamber, but the previously stable patterns had already become distorted.

The readings trembled violently.

"This isn't our doing," Chiyo said coldly while narrowing her eyes at the shifting currents.

"The disturbance is coming from somewhere else."

The realization made the atmosphere instantly heavier.

One of the Dragon Vein's branches had changed.

Not gradually.

Violently.

The shockwave from that change was now spreading through the earth itself, destabilizing everything connected to the ancient energy network beneath the continent.

Silence filled the chamber.

Then Rasa slowly rose to his feet.

His eyes hardened.

"We wait no longer."

His voice echoed through the underground hall like a judgment.

"The war begins now."

The orders were issued immediately.

Deploy the puppet legions.

Establish the forward bases.

Contact Kitsuchi and prepare the joint offensive.

At dawn, they would strike.

There would be no hesitation.

And no retreat.

Far below the command platform, countless mechanical eyes suddenly ignited within the darkness.

An army waited there.

Twenty thousand puppets stood in absolute silence, packed together like an ocean of steel hidden beneath the desert.

Then the first crimson light appeared.

After that came hundreds more.

And then thousands.

In an instant, the underground world transformed into a terrifying sea of glowing red eyes.

Rasa stared at the awakening legion in silence.

At that moment, he understood something clearly.

He was no longer commanding a normal military force.

This was a weapon created solely for destruction.

A force capable of erasing nations.

A cold smile slowly appeared on his face.

"Come, Konoha…"

"Come meet your master."

Far away from Loulan, violent winds swept across the Land of Rivers.

Inside a dimly lit war tent, another battlefield quietly emerged.

Uchiha Shisui stepped inside.

Calm.

Silent.

Dangerous.

Across from him sat Orochimaru, whose golden eyes narrowed slightly the moment Shisui entered. His smile resembled a serpent observing prey—or perhaps an opportunity too valuable to ignore.

Neither man wasted time with meaningless pleasantries.

"I am willing to serve under Uchiha Anlan," Orochimaru said directly.

There were no lies hidden in his tone.

But there was still another truth beneath those words.

Orochimaru would betray anyone if the right moment arrived.

Loyalty had never truly existed within him.

Shisui understood that perfectly.

Even so, he remained expressionless.

"The price for cooperation," Shisui replied calmly, "will be equal exchange."

Then he revealed the offer.

"Two tailed beasts."

"Isobu… and Saiken."

For the first time since the conversation began, Orochimaru's smile faded slightly.

Even he was surprised.

Tailed beasts were not bargaining chips ordinary people could casually offer.

Not armies.

Not tactics.

Resources.

That was the true foundation of power in this era.

And now, the balance of the world itself was beginning to shift.

Orochimaru slowly leaned forward, interest burning within his snake-like eyes.

But he still wanted more.

"Show me," he said softly, "the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan."

Shisui did not refuse.

Yet neither did he comply.

"You'll witness it yourself on the battlefield."

That single sentence was enough.

After Shisui departed, silence returned to the tent once more.

Only Orochimaru remained behind.

And a single letter.

One sent by Tsunade.

There were no emotional words written within it.

No sympathy.

No warmth.

Only research data.

Cold.

Precise.

Terrifying.

Orochimaru's eyes rapidly scanned the contents as his expression slowly changed.

The document described an entirely new path.

Not immortality through transferring the soul.

But evolution of the body itself.

A completely different form of eternity.

At that moment, Orochimaru realized something profound.

His obsession and Tsunade's research were walking toward the same destination from two entirely different roads.

And where those roads intersected—

Something monstrous could be born.

Slowly, the paper ignited within his hand.

The flames consumed the letter until nothing remained except drifting ash.

And together with that ash, something else disappeared as well.

The final trace of attachment binding him to Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Orochimaru gazed quietly into the burning remains.

Then he spoke in a low voice.

"Third Hokage…"

"Let us hope…"

"That we can both reach the end with dignity."
