Chapter 152 - Rampage

Dawn of War

The sun rose over the wastelands of the Land of Wind, casting golden light across endless dunes and barren stone. The desert looked peaceful from afar, but beneath that silence, an entire battlefield waited to be torn apart.

At the border between the Land of Wind and the Land of Rivers, war finally began.

Five hundred shinobi stood in formation without a single unnecessary sound. At the very front was Baki, his expression cold as the wind swept across the battlefield. Behind the formation were dozens of massive sealed scrolls lined across the sand.

Inside them were not supplies.

Not tools.

But weapons built for a completely new era of warfare.

Soon, reinforcements arrived from the east. Another thousand shinobi advanced across the dunes under Pakura's command. Two commanders. Two armies.

One objective.

Break Konoha.

The sun fully climbed above the horizon.

Then a pillar of black smoke erupted into the sky from the direction of Iwagakure, twisting upward like a signal from hell itself. The second blade had already moved.

Baki narrowed his eyes.

"Now."

A red flare exploded high above the battlefield, bright enough to stain the sky itself.

The order was given.

"Advance."

The sealed scrolls opened simultaneously.

Smoke flooded across the sand as massive shapes emerged one after another from within the seals.

Monsters.

Fast assault puppets raced forward across the dunes with terrifying speed. Multi-armed support machines unfolded layers of rotating weapon systems. Massive siege constructs dragged themselves across the battlefield like moving fortresses.

Thousands of puppets advanced together.

No fear.

No hesitation.

Only function.

At that moment, the battlefield stopped resembling a shinobi war.

This was industrialized slaughter.

Konoha's outer watchtowers disappeared almost instantly. Explosions consumed them before warning signals could even spread through the defensive lines.

At the same time, Iwagakure's forces advanced from the northeast.

The earth itself trembled beneath the synchronized assault.

Two jaws closing around a single throat.

Several kilometers behind the collapsing line, a small Konoha squad fled through the rocky valleys near the border.

Five survivors.

Leading them was a Hyuga shinobi whose Byakugan remained fully activated despite the blood running down the side of his face. Veins bulged around his eyes as he scanned every direction desperately.

He saw everything.

Every movement.

Every approach angle.

Every hidden machine buried beneath the sand.

And still—

It wasn't enough.

The squad suddenly stopped.

They had been surrounded.

Not chaotically.

Not by instinct.

Perfectly.

The machines moved with terrifying precision. Suppression fire forced movement into controlled lanes while assault units circled from the flanks. Targets were selected and eliminated with mechanical efficiency.

No wasted movement.

No wasted lives.

One shinobi tried to leap backward.

A rotating blade cut him cleanly in half before he landed.

Another was pierced through the stomach by multiple steel limbs and lifted into the air like prey caught on hooks.

A third attempted hand seals, only for a heavy construct to seize his neck and crush it instantly.

Another disappeared beneath the sand before screaming as metal claws tore upward from below.

The Hyuga shinobi stood frozen for a single moment, breathing heavily as blood dripped from his fingers.

"They're… studying us…"

The realization sent genuine fear through him.

The puppets were not attacking randomly.

They were learning.

Adapting.

Improving with every exchange.

His remaining ally fell beside him.

Now he stood alone.

The Hyuga took a deep breath and lowered his stance.

Gentle Fist.

Even now, he refused to surrender.

He charged forward with everything he had left. Chakra erupted from his palms as he struck the nearest puppet directly through its core.

The construct exploded apart.

One machine destroyed.

Just one.

Then the others moved.

Steel answered his resistance instantly.

A heavy impact shattered his arm. Blades tore through flesh. Metal limbs pinned him to the ground as bones cracked beneath overwhelming force.

The Hyuga coughed blood while staring upward helplessly.

A long blade hovered directly above his eyes.

Then it came down.

Silence returned to the valley.

Only the wind remained, carrying sand across blood-soaked stone.

The machines continued forward without pause, marching toward the next battlefield as if the dead behind them had never existed.

But the massacre had not gone unseen.

Far away, hidden observers watched the destruction unfold in complete silence.

They studied.

They calculated.

And they waited.

Because this war had only just begun.
