Chapter 34 - Lines That Cannot Be Crossed

The next morning, sunlight spilled across the flower shop, illuminating the vibrant crimson lotuses on the counter.

Lian Hua was arranging flowers, her fingers brushing petals with delicate care, when the bell above the door rang.

Zhen Wei.

He didn't speak immediately, only stepped inside, scanning the shop. His dark eyes were sharp, every movement measured.

"You came early," she said softly.

"I wanted to see you before anyone else," he replied quietly.

Lian Hua felt her cheeks warm.

"You mean Chen Kai," she said, unable to hide the thought.

Zhen Wei's jaw tightened slightly, though his voice remained calm.

"Yes. He's testing boundaries. I won't allow it."

Before she could answer, the bell rang again.

Chen Kai stepped in, holding a small bouquet of pink roses.

"Good morning, Lian Hua," he said casually. "I thought I'd bring you these. Just a small gift."

Lian Hua hesitated.

"Chen Kai… you can't—" she began, but Zhen Wei's presence silenced her.

He subtly stepped closer, placing himself between her and Chen Kai. His dark eyes locked on the other man.

"You shouldn't be here," Zhen Wei said, his voice low, controlled, and unyielding.

Chen Kai smiled, though the edge of tension in his body was clear.

"I'm not here to cause trouble," he said lightly. "I just… wanted to see her."

Zhen Wei's gaze didn't leave him.

"You forget yourself," he said. "Some lines should not be crossed."

Chen Kai hesitated, then raised his hands.

"Alright… I'll leave," he said, stepping back slowly.

The bell chimed as he exited.

Zhen Wei turned to Lian Hua, his dark eyes softening slightly.

"You understand now," he said quietly. "Some things… some people… cannot be allowed near you."

Her fingers brushed his, and she felt a shiver run through her.

"I… I understand," she whispered.

He leaned just slightly closer, his presence overwhelming yet protective.

"I care for you," he said quietly. "More than you realize."

Her heart beat faster, the warmth of his words mingling with the intensity of his gaze.

And she realized something crucial:

Zhen Wei's love was a force she couldn't resist—and one that would change everything.
