Chapter 76 - The Return of Pressure

The calm didn't last long.

It never did.

The moment Lian Hua chose to stay—

The world around them began to shift again.

This time—

Faster.

Stronger.

Less forgiving.

"Are you sure about this?" Chen Kai asked quietly the next morning.

Lian Hua paused while arranging flowers.

"…yes."

He studied her face.

"You don't sound unsure."

"I am," she admitted.

"Then why say yes?"

She smiled faintly.

"Because I'm tired of running from something I want."

Chen Kai didn't respond immediately.

Then he nodded.

"Then I won't stop you."

A small pause.

"But I won't pretend it doesn't hurt either."

Her hands stilled slightly.

"I know."

Silence.

But this time—

It wasn't uncomfortable.

Just… honest.

Across the city—

Zhen Wei stood in a large meeting room.

But today—

The atmosphere was different.

Colder.

Sharper.

"You've made your position clear," his father said.

Zhen Wei remained calm.

"I have."

"And yet you continue."

"Yes."

Silence.

The elegant woman beside his father spoke.

"This isn't just about you."

Zhen Wei didn't look at her.

"I know."

"Then act like it."

A pause.

"You're risking too much," she added.

Zhen Wei's voice remained steady.

"I decide what's worth risking."

His father's expression hardened.

"And if we don't allow it?"

Silence.

The air grew heavier.

Then—

Zhen Wei answered.

"You don't have to."

The words were quiet.

But dangerous.

Back at the flower shop—

Lian Hua's day started normally.

Until—

The bell rang.

She looked up.

And froze.

Two well-dressed women stood at the entrance.

Their presence alone—

Different.

Refined.

Calculated.

"Miss Lian Hua," one of them said politely.

Her heart skipped.

"Yes?"

"We'd like to speak with you."

Chen Kai's expression darkened slightly.

"About what?" he asked.

The woman smiled faintly.

"A private matter."

Lian Hua felt the shift immediately.

Because she already knew—

This wasn't just a visit.

This was pressure.

Again.

But stronger.

More direct.

"I'll be fine," she said softly to Chen Kai.

He didn't look convinced.

"I'll be right here," he replied.

She nodded.

Then stepped forward.

"Let's talk."

Outside—

The air felt colder.

One of the women spoke first.

"You've made a bold choice."

Lian Hua remained calm.

"I made a personal one."

The woman smiled slightly.

"In our world, those are rarely separate."

Silence.

"You've already caused complications," she continued.

"I didn't intend to."

"But you did."

The words were soft.

But firm.

Lian Hua's hands tightened slightly.

"What do you want from me?" she asked.

A pause.

"Clarity."

Her gaze sharpened slightly.

"About what?"

"Whether you understand the consequences of staying."

Silence.

Because this question—

Wasn't new.

But it felt heavier now.

More real.

Lian Hua took a slow breath.

Then said—

"I do."

The women exchanged a brief glance.

"And you're still choosing this?"

"Yes."

Another pause.

Longer this time.

Then—

The woman smiled faintly.

"Then be prepared."

Her chest tightened slightly.

"For what?"

The woman's expression didn't change.

"For things to get worse."

And just like that—

They left.

Lian Hua stood there.

Still.

Because deep down—

She knew.

They weren't threatening her.

They were warning her.
