The silence after Kendrick's question stretched longer than Damian expected.
His mind raced.
Say something.
Anything.
But the problem with lies was that they were harder to invent when someone was staring directly into your eyes.
And Kendrick Walker was doing exactly that.
Waiting.
Watching.
Studying every small reaction.
Damian forced a short laugh.
"You're being dramatic."
Kendrick did not move.
"Am I?"
"Yes."
Damian leaned back slightly on the couch, trying to look relaxed even though his pulse was pounding hard against his ribs.
"I'm an omega. That's it. There's nothing mysterious about me."
Kendrick crossed his arms slowly.
"Then why are you nervous?"
"I'm not nervous."
"You just looked at the door."
Damian blinked.
He had not even realized he did it.
Kendrick noticed everything.
He always did.
That was the real problem.
"That's because you're questioning me in your enormous house like some suspicious detective," Damian muttered.
