Ye Qiu's face darkened. He could clearly tell someone had just slapped Lin Jingzhi inside the ward.
"Move aside!"
He snapped at the two bodyguards.
"Are you deaf? I told you to get lost!"
"Stay out of this, or you'll regret it!"
The bodyguards spoke aggressively, their expressions fierce.
"I'm warning you one last time — step aside, or I won't hold back." Ye Qiu's voice turned ice-cold.
Unexpectedly, the bodyguards burst out laughing.
"Won't hold back? Hahaha, who do you think you are? Skinny as a pole, you wanna fight us…?"

Before one guard could finish speaking, Ye Qiu punched him unconscious.
The other reacted quickly, throwing a roundhouse kick at Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu tilted his body slightly to dodge, grabbed the man's leg, and yanked him forward. The guard lost his balance and crashed to the floor with a heavy thud.

Ye Qiu quickly pieced together what was going on. Bai Bing had told him Lin Jingzhi's fiancé had been poisoned to death — by her.
This woman must be his sister.
He glanced at Lin Jingzhi. She sat on the hospital bed, a bright red handprint burning on her left cheek, her face icy cold.
For some reason, seeing her like this made Ye Qiu's chest ache.
The woman kept cursing, her words growing filthier by the second.
"You think poisoning my brother would let you live happily ever after?
I know exactly what you've been up to in Jiangzhou these years. A woman building such a big company? You must've slept with half the men in town!"
"You know what they say about you in the capital? That you're a loose, shameless slut!"
"They're being nice. Me? I'd call you nothing but a whore!"
In an instant, Lin Jingzhi lifted her head and stared coldly at the woman.

Murder flashed in the woman's eyes. She stepped closer to the bed.

With that, she lunged forward and wrapped both hands around Lin Jingzhi's throat.
"Stop!"
Ye Qiu shouted.
The woman jumped and immediately let go. She wanted to avenge her brother badly, but she had never killed anyone before. She was nervous and guilty.
"Who are you?" she demanded.
"I'm wearing a doctor's coat. Who do you think I am?" Ye Qiu said sternly. "Making a scene in a ward is completely unacceptable."
The woman's face turned red with rage. Who did this nobody doctor think he was, yelling at her?
"Do you have any idea who I am?"
She immediately felt stupid — if he knew her identity, he would never dare speak to her like this.
"I'll have you know, I'm —"
"I don't care who you are. You will not cause a disturbance here, and you will not harm my patient." Ye Qiu said firmly. "Now please leave."
"You — you're kicking me out?"
The woman stared at him in disbelief, as if looking at a freak. She never expected a lowly doctor to dare order her out.
"This is an intensive care unit. Hospital rules prohibit unauthorized visitors. I don't know how you got in, but as a doctor here, I have every right to remove you." Ye Qiu continued. "Leave now, or I'll call security to drag you out."
The woman was fuming. She pointed at Ye Qiu and screamed:
"A tiny doctor dares to disrespect me? You're done for! You're finished!"
"Ah Long! Ah Hu! Get in here now!"
She shouted toward the door.
Normally, her bodyguards would appear instantly to handle trouble. But this doctor was openly defying her — where were they?
Had they worn themselves out the night before?
Either way, she was furious.
"Calling those two at the door? Don't bother. They won't be coming." Ye Qiu reminded her.
"What do you mean?"
"Go see for yourself."
The woman rushed outside.
Only then did Ye Qiu turn to Lin Jingzhi with concern.
"Sister, are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Lin Jingzhi forced a faint smile onto her beautiful face.
"Good, I just —"
Before Ye Qiu could finish, the woman stormed back in, pointing at him and shouting:
"You did this, didn't you?!"
"What are you talking about?" Ye Qiu asked innocently.
Lin Jingzhi had no idea her bodyguards had been knocked out. She was confused by their exchange.
"You know exactly what I mean!" The woman glared at Ye Qiu angrily. "Why did you attack my bodyguards?!"
Ye Qiu smiled. "Oh, those were your bodyguards? I thought they were just two guard dogs."
"You — you're asking for death! How dare you lay hands on my men! I… I get it now!" The woman suddenly realized something, pointing at Lin Jingzhi. "Was it you?!"
"Did you order this punk to knock out my guards?!"
"Lin Jingzhi, you dare cross me?! I'll kill you!"
The woman lunged at Lin Jingzhi like a madwoman.
But before she could reach the bed, Ye Qiu slapped her hard and sent her flying.
He said coldly:
"I never hit women — but you're an exception."
