The days that followed were merciless.
Not loud. Not dramatic. Just… exhausting.
Aria woke before sunrise. Worked until her body ached and slept only when her eyes refused to stay open.
Three months.
Fifty million.
The numbers haunted her every step. She took extra shifts at the café.
Picked up late-night work. Did small freelance jobs in between.
Every dollar.
Counted.
Saved.
But no matter how hard she tried it wasn't enough. Still she didn't stop.
Because stopping meant losing and losing meant Herself.
Unseen Eyes what Aria didn't know that she was never alone.
From across the street.
From inside parked cars.
From quiet corners she never noticed that she was being watched.
Not threatened.
Not harmed.
Protected.
Rafael stood near the window of a building across from her café, his gaze fixed below.
"There's nothing unusual," one of his men said quietly. Rafael didn't respond. Because he wasn't looking for danger.
He was looking at her. The way she worked without rest. The way she refused help. The way she carried everything alone.
His jaw tightened slightly.
"She hasn't taken a single shortcut," the man added.
Rafael's voice came low.
"She won't."
Because that was who she was and somehow that made this harder.
After some days Lucas came back again.
Like always.
Like nothing had changed.
The moment Aria saw Lucas she didn't hold back.
"Why?"
The word came out sharp.
Shaking.
Burning.
Lucas looked up, surprised.
"Aria"
"Don't," she cut him off. "Don't say my name like nothing happened."
Her eyes burned with anger.
"You sold me," she said, her voice trembling. "You stood there… and you agreed like I meant nothing."
Lucas exhaled, frustrated.
"You don't understand the situation."
"Then make me understand!" she snapped.
"They would've killed me," he said quickly. "I had no choice!"
"There is always a choice!" she shouted. "You just didn't choose me!"
Silence fell.
Heavy.
Lucas stepped closer. His tone softened instantly.
"I was scared," he said quietly. "I didn't know what to do."
Her anger flickered.
Weakened.
"I was going to fix everything," he continued. "I just needed time."
Time.
"I would never let anything happen to you," he added gently, holding her hands. "You know me."
Aria looked at him.Searching.Wanting something real.
"I love you," he whispered and that was her weakness.
Her anger didn't disappear but it softened, faded because her heart still remembered loving him.
Slowly she nodded and Lucas smiled.
Days Later something didn't feel right.
Not obvious.
Not loud.
But enough to stay in her mind.
Lucas was still the same—
Careful.
Charming.
Attentive.
But now Aria noticed.
The hidden calls.
The avoided answers.
The way he sometimes looked at her like he was calculating something.
Then one evening everything broke.
Aria had come to surprise him. She didn't call. Didn't message. She just walked quietly toward the place he said he'd be and then she stopped.
Because she saw him.
Lucas.
Standing very close, too close to another woman. The woman leaned into him, her hand resting lightly on his chest.
Familiar.
Intimate.
Lucas didn't move away. Didn't stop her.
Aria's heart clenched.
She stayed hidden.
"Careful," the woman said softly. "What if your girlfriend finds out?"
Lucas smirked.
"She won't," he said casually.
"Why are you so sure?" she asked.Lucas leaned closer to her, voice low but not low enough.
"Because she believes everything I say."
Aria froze.
"And honestly?" he added "She's useful."
The word shattered something inside her.
"Useful how?" the woman asked.
Lucas chuckled. "Her parents left her a fortune," he said. "All I have to do is stay close… and it's mine."
Aria's vision blurred.
"And love?" the woman teased. Lucas laughed. Cold.Careless.
"Love?" he repeated. "I've never loved her."
A pause—
Then irritation slipped into his voice.
"And you know what's worse?" he muttered. "We've never even spent a proper night together. She keeps holding back… not ready for anything real."
"That must be frustrating," the woman said.
"It is," Lucas replied. "But I had to play along. Couldn't risk losing her trust."
Aria's breath trembled.
But the final blow was yet to come.
"That accident night…" Lucas continued casually. "I wasn't even there when it mattered."
The woman frowned.
"Then how does she think you saved her?"
Lucas shrugged.
"I ran," he said. "The moment I saw the crash, I panicked and left."
Everything went silent.
"I went to the hospital the next day," he added. "She woke up, saw me… and assumed I saved her."
"And you didn't correct her?"
Lucas smirked.
"Why would I?" he said. "It made everything easier."
That was it.
That was the moment everything inside Aria shattered. She stepped back slowly. Her body numb. Her heart gone.
Every memory,every moment, every word—
A lie.
The sky darkened. Clouds gathering. And then heavy rain started relentlessly.
Aria didn't run. Didn't move. She stood in the middle of the empty street letting the rain soak her completely.
Tears mixed with the downpour.Uncontrollable.
"I trusted him…" she whispered. Her voice broke.
"I loved him…"and he never loved her.
"I hate him…"
A pause.
Then softer "I hate myself more…"
"Don't."
She froze. That voice. She turned slowly. Rafael stood behind her.
Still.
Silent.
Like he had been there longer than she realized. He stepped closer.
Not too much.
Just enough.
"You trusted," he said quietly. "That's not a mistake." Her eyes filled again.
"You knew…" she whispered. "You knew everything…"
"Yes."
"Then why didn't you tell me?"
Silence.
Then—
"Because you wouldn't have believed me."
Her breath shook and deep down she knew he was right.
The rain poured harder.
The world blurred.
Her body swayed slightly. Rafael noticed immediately.
"Aria—"
But before she could respond her vision went dark and she collapsed.
In an instant Rafael caught her before she could hit the ground. His grip tightened around her. One arm supporting her back, the other holding her close.
"Aria," he said, his voice low but urgent.
No response.
Her face pale.
Her body completely still.
Something in his expression changed.
Sharp.
Dangerous.
"Car," he ordered.
Within seconds headlights cut through the rain. Rafael lifted her into his arms effortlessly, carefully as if she might break.
He carried her to the car, shielding her from the rain with his own body.
The door opened. He stepped in with her still in his arms. Not letting go.
"Drive," he said.
The car moved instantly. Rafael looked down at her. Her wet hair clinging to her face, her breath faint, her body fragile in his hold.
His jaw tightened.
"Stay with me," he murmured.
Not a command.
Not a demand.
Something softer.
Something real.
The car sped through the night until it finally stopped in front of a massive mansion.
His world.
The doors opened. Staff rushed forward but stopped the moment they saw his expression.
"Prepare a room," he ordered. No one questioned. Rafael carried her inside through long corridors, past shadows and silence.
Straight into his space.
And for the first time Aria step into his world…
Not as part of a deal but as someone He refused to let break.
