Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- The Night The Wall Shook

The first tremor was small, so small it almost went unnoticed.

A faint vibration beneath stone. A whisper of movement in the dark.

But Kaelen's eyes snapped open, He didn't know why.

He lay still, staring into the shadows of his chamber, his breath slow, controlled. Listening. For a moment, there was nothing only silence.

The kind that settles deep into the bones of a sleeping kingdom.

Then the winds came stronger than he have seen before.

The bedframe shuddered beneath him. Dust drifted from the ceiling in thin, ghostlike trails.

Kaelen sat up immediately. Eldoria has never trembled not like this.

From a distance a low sound followed, deep and then came the roar.

It rolled across the night like thunder, but there was no lightning, no storm to follow.

Kaelen froze. Every instinct in him sharpened at once.

That sound…It wasn't human.

Another tremor shook the chamber.. this time violent enough to rattle the windows.

And then, the screaming came, faint at first then louder and closer.

Kaelen was already moving.

He threw off his covers and crossed the room in seconds, flinging open the tall window. Cold air slammed his face. The night suddenly changed.

The peaceful quiet of Eldoria was gone replaced by chaos.

Torches flickered wildly along the castle walls, their flames bending in unnatural directions. Guards ran along the battlements, shouting orders that barely carried over the rising noise.

Far below, a horn blared. Once, twice and then again.

Kaelen's chest tightened. "We're under attack…"

The words slipped out before he could stop them.

But something about it felt wrong.

Attacks were loud. Chaotic. Predictable in their destruction. This… This felt different.

Another roar split the night. Closer, much close now.

Kaelen stepped back from the window slowly.

Whatever was out there It was coming for them.

He didn't hesitate any longer.

Grabbing his cloak, he rushed out into the corridor.

The palace was no longer calm.

Servants hurried past him, wide-eyed and confused. Guards sprinted in full armor, their boots striking hard against the stone floors. Somewhere nearby, something crashed loudly.

"Your Highness!" A soldier nearly collided with him, breathless.

"The outer walls.. they're—"

Kaelen didn't wait to hear the rest.

He already understood.

If the outer walls were compromised

Everything else would fall with them.

He turned sharply and sprinted down the corridor.

There was only one thing that mattered now.

The bell.

If the city didn't wake, They wouldn't wake at all.

The great bell tower loomed ahead, silent and waiting.

Kaelen grabbed the thick rope and pulled with all his strength.

The sound exploded into the night.

A deep, powerful toll that echoed across Eldoria.

Once, twice again and again.

He didn't stop.

The rope burned against his palms, but he tightened his grip and pulled harder.

The bell screamed across the kingdom loud, desperate and impossible to ignore.

A warning, a call to arms

A signal that something was terribly wrong.

Kaelen's heart pounded as he finally released the rope.

It wasn't enough. It would never be enough,

But it was all they had.

He turned and ran again, this time toward the throne room.

The massive doors burst open as he slammed into them.

"Father!"

King Aldric was already standing.

Of course he was.

The king didn't look surprised.

He looked ready.

"Kaelen," he said sharply, "report."

"Our enemies are upon us!" Kaelen said, breathless. "But this isn't normal. I heard it, whatever is out there.. "

Before he could finish,

The doors slammed open again.

The general rushed in, pale, his armor half-fastened, his composure barely holding together.

"Your Majesty, we need a strategy before they reach the inner walls. "

"There's no time!" the king thundered, stepping forward. "Ready the archers! Fire arrows on the walls! Hold the gates at all costs

Another roar shook the palace. This time, the sound felt closer than the walls themselves.

The torches flickered violently.

For a brief moment,

Even the throne room felt small, Kaelen felt it then.

Not just fear, not just danger, something else, something very wrong.

Like the night itself was waiting to devour them.

"We've faced worse," the general said, though his voice betrayed him.

Kaelen shook his head slowly.

"No…"

His gaze drifted toward the tall window behind the throne.

The darkness outside didn't look empty anymore.

"This is different."

Something moved beyond the walls. Not solders, not the villagers, not shadows something larger and alive.

And then, For just a moment,

Two glowing shapes appeared in the distance.

Far from the palace…

Far from the walls that now trembled under unseen force…

At the edge of Eldoria, where the forest whispered and shadows stretched longer than they should.

A girl woke.

Elara sat upright in her bed, her breath uneven, her heart racing as though she had been running.

But she hadn't moved.

Not at all. The small cottage was quiet.

No screams, No chaos.

Only the faint rustle of leaves outside her window.. And yet,

Something felt wrong.

Her fingers tightened against the thin blanket as she tried to steady her breathing.

"It was just a dream…" she whispered.

But even as she said it,

She knew it wasn't.. Because she could still feel it.

The presence, the weight.

Her gaze slowly shifted toward her hand.

Her wrist. Her gaze slowly shifted toward her hand.

Her wrist.

And for a brief moment, it glowed soft, silver and Alive. Elara froze.

Then suddenly, The sound of the great bell tore through the night.

Loud, violent and deafening.

Elara flinched, her hands flying to her ears as the echo rang again and again, shaking the quiet of the cottage to its core.

This wasn't just a warning, it was the sound of danger.

Outside, the stillness shattered instantly. Voices rose in confusion. Doors creaked open, footsteps rushed across the damp earth. The entire town was waking.

"Elara!"

Her father's voice cut through the chaos, sharp with urgency. "Elara, come out now!"

Her heart skipped.

She had never heard him sound like that before. Afraid.

She turned toward the door, her pulse quickening as the bell continued to ring in the distance, each toll heavier than the last.

Something was wrong, not just wrong something dangerous was coming.

Another shout came from outside.

"Elara!"

This time, there was no hesitation.

She rushed toward the door, her breath unsteady, her thoughts racing faster than she could control.

Because deep down, she already knew.

This wasn't just an attack. This was the beginning of something far worse.
