Isaac stepped out of the bathroom, steam curling behind him as the door slid shut softly.
Droplets of water clung to the pale strands of his hair, trailing lazily down the sharp lines of his neck and disappearing beneath the loose towel he wrapped around himself. The faint scent of soap and cold mint followed him into the room.
The laboratory was quiet now.
The earlier heat and chaos had faded into silence, leaving only the dim hum of medical equipment and the soft rhythm of breathing from the woman sprawled across the bed.
Isaac's gaze softened instantly.
