Chapter 30 - Immigration.

Craig had gone to bed close to three in the morning.

By the time he finally got to the hotel room he got, his entire body felt heavy with exhaustion. The day had wrung him dry; hours of moving around the hospital pretending to be nothing more than a calm and composed lawyer while secretly investigating had left his nerves stretched thin.

The hotel room was dimly lit and quiet except for the distant hum of traffic beyond the rain-speckled windows. His jacket had been discarded carelessly over the chair near the desk, his laptop left open beside an opened can of unfinished Coca-Cola and noodles that had long gone cold.

He barely remembered falling asleep.

One moment he had been staring at the ceiling while thinking through possibilities, and the next…

His phone vibrated violently against the bedside table.

Craig frowned in his sleep. The phone continued vibrating, and his eyes snapped open.
