The words hit the prime minister like a physical blow. He had been seated at the head of a late-night meeting, surrounded by his cabinet, discussing whether to request external military aid. The room was thick with tension, and because of that, he had ignored the first call and even muted his phone.
The call came again, buzzing insistently against his thigh, and he ignored that too. But the calls would not stop; they kept coming one after another. Reluctantly, he had excused himself and stepped into the corridor filled with annoyance and irritation towards the unreasonable caller.
Now he stood frozen, blood draining from his face.
He had personally authorized Rowan's entry into Sienna's apartment. Behind the entire cabinet's back. He had thought his son simply wanted to see her, perhaps to see how she was fairing. He had never imagined this, never thought Rowan would actually kidnap her.
