Chapter 14 - Chapter 14:A Demon with an Angel’s Heart

{We will stay with you, so return to us}

While Kinjin headed back inside to finish his work, Mayar and Rina's day was just beginning.

"Uncle, are you a friend of Uncle Kinjin?" Mayar asked.

"Yes, you could say that."

"Are you staying with us the whole day?"

"It sounds like I'm not very welcome from your side," Hakan teased. "Don't worry, it's only for today. I'll be leaving by evening."

"I didn't mean that! I just meant... we won't see Uncle Kinjin today."

"He'll come when he's finished with his work. I think he'll visit you tomorrow."

"I hope he doesn't take too long."

"Here we are. This is your sister's place, right? Let's go get her together."

"Let's go!"

Hakan and Mayar climbed the stairs to Rina's room and stood before the door.

"You go in first, Mayar," Hakan said.

"Sister, we're back!"

"Welcome back, Mayar! And Kin..." Rina paused. "I forgot he wouldn't be coming. You're Kinjin's friend, right?"

"Yes, my name is Hakan. I'll be with you until this evening. I hope my presence isn't an inconvenience."

"There's no need to say that. If anything, we're the ones inconveniencing you today."

"Think nothing of it. Do you want to leave now?"

"Yes, please."

"Let's not delay then. Get ready, and we'll leave in five minutes. I'll be downstairs in front of the hospital."

"Agreed. We'll be down quickly."

Hakan stepped out, leaving the two sisters alone in the room.

"How was life with Kinjin?" Rina asked.

"He's a truly kind person! He treats me with such gentleness and care. And Auntie Maria looks after me too!"

"Maria? Is that his wife's name?"

"No... Uncle Kinjin isn't married. She's a woman who helps with the housework."

"Maria... so that's the name of the 'maid' he mentioned before. I thought he was married because of the way he acts—so refined and kind."

"Did Dad leave?" Mayar asked softly.

"Yes, they left shortly after you did... Now, let's get ready to go."

Rina and Mayar headed downstairs where Hakan was waiting, holding a plastic bag.

"Here you go, little one. Some sweets you might like."

"Thank you, Uncle Hakan!"

"Let's head to your new home then. But before that... do you want to grab anything from your old house?"

"There are some things I'd like to take with me... but..."

Hakan looked at her with a faint, reassuring smile.

"Nothing will happen to you this time. You're under my protection."

"Are all of Kinjin's friends strong men like you?" Rina asked with a laugh.

"I think he has other acquaintances far more powerful than me. But for this moment, he trusted me. So... let's head to the old house."

{We will stay with you, so return to us}

After a short car ride...

"Is this the house?"

"Yes. I'll go in, grab a few things, and come back."

"Alright."

"It looks like the door isn't locked... I hope our things are still there."

Rina entered the house. Everything was still in its place. She began packing her belongings and bringing them out to the car, but Hakan was nowhere to be seen.

"What? Where did Mr. Hakan go? Mayar, did he tell you where he went?"

"He told me he was going to buy coffee."

"Alright, let's wait for him."

Meanwhile, inside a nearby alley, Hakan was pressing his gun against a man's forehead.

"You were watching us. Tell me why before I empty this magazine into your damn head."

"Please don't shoot! I'll talk! I'll talk!"

"You have thirty seconds. Speak."

"The father... the father of that girl who got out of your car. He told me to bring him any information if she returned here. He was going to pay me for it!"

"Her father? It seems Kinjin wasn't calling him a fool for no reason..."

"Do you want to live? You will do exactly as I say, word for word. Or I swear I'll come back to this neighborhood just to find you and your family and end your lives in the dead of night."

"Just tell me, and I'll do it! I promise! Please don't hurt my family!"

"Tell their father that you saw the two girls. They were with a man with somewhat long hair and a light beard. They all left, and you happened to overhear that they were heading toward the shopping mall in the city center. Change a single word of what I said, and you know what happens next."

"I'll follow your words exactly, I swear!"

"Now, get out of my sight, you scum!"

The spy ran off as fast as he could.

[That bastard cop shouldn't know what I look like. If necessary, I might need to snatch him at the right moment... It seems looking after these two has its interesting moments. I didn't think I'd have to use threats before nightfall. I should buy my son some sweets too on my way home when I'm done.]

A few moments later, Hakan returned to the car.

"Hey. Am I late?"

"No. Did you find good coffee?"

"Yes. Now, is everything you need here?"

"Yes, I took only the important things."

"Then let's go... to the new house."
