Chapter 30: Hidden Talents, Defensive Upgrades, and the Kamui Space!
.....
"So, what do you think?" Seito asked with a grin.
"Exquisite!" Sora replied, admiring his new look.
"If I'm pivoting to a full-time Frontliner, I'll need to dump some points into Defense,"
Sora noted. In previous games, he had played a glass-cannon Marksman, rarely worrying about his HP pool. But as a Warrior, survivability was key.
Without hesitation, Sora equipped the Evil Moon Set. He was instantly clad in sleek, pitch-black light armor. A matching helm featured a mechanical faceplate that masked the lower half of his face, leaving only his sharp eyes visible.
"Perfect! I can ditch the clunky mask now." Sora swapped his standard headgear for a pair of futuristic black shades, completely obscuring his identity.
"Wow... everyone has Orange-tier gear now," Sally sighed, looking at Sora with pure envy.
Seito gave her a reassuring smile. "Once the event is over, I'll find some time to farm a set for you."
"Wait, seriously?!" Sally froze, her eyes widening. She knew how Seito and Maple got their gear—solo-clearing high-tier bosses. While she was a pro, she wasn't on the same mechanical level as Seito or the Blank siblings. "You'd do that?"
"Of course." Seito nodded, outlining the hierarchy for the night. "For the upcoming 'Carnage Feast,' the goal is for me, Sora, and Shiro to sweep the Top 3. Maple, you aim for the Top 10."
"And what about me?" Sally asked.
"You? Just have fun and try not to die too early."
Sally: "???"
So I'm basically the mascot? In reality, the logic was sound. In a massive chaotic battlefield, Maple's impenetrable defense and AoE nukes were broken. Blank's raw mechanics were untouchable. Sally, while skilled, was a single-target specialist.
"By the way," Seito asked, "what are your Innate Talents? I realized I never actually asked."
"Mine is Fatal Laceration," Sally said proudly. "Every hit applies a bleed effect. The damage scales with my initial hit, and the duration is a fixed five minutes. It's a death sentence in a long fight."
"Mine is Mental Transcendence," Sora chimed in. "It doubles all Magic damage and massively increases the AoE of my spells."
Seito's mind immediately went to a specific build. "A 'Battle-Mage'?"
"Exactly," Sora agreed. "With this physical gear and my talent, I can imbue my sword with psychic energy. My total output will effectively triple. Once we craft some Gold-tier gear with Spirit-scaling stats, I'll be an unstoppable T0 threat."
"Seito-nii... mine is Chaotic Demolition," Shiro added softly. "Every bullet I fire gains the properties of a high-explosive shell. Impact damage, blast radius, and knockback are all increased by at least 300%."
Literal carpet bombing, Seito thought. He felt a wave of relief. His teammates were monsters. However, as strong as they were, they didn't quite reach the reality-warping levels of his Spatial Mastery.
But even with Spatial Mastery, Seito lacked a definitive defensive tool. This game offered near-infinite freedom for skill creation. Thinking of the ultimate defense, he recalled a legendary technique from Naruto: Obito Uchiha's Kamui.
To create it, he needed a dedicated dimension. He looked at his White Dragon Ring, which contained a massive 1,000-cubic-meter storage space.
Seito closed his eyes, focusing his spatial energy on the ring's sub-dimension. He didn't just want to store items; he wanted to anchor that space to himself. Blue spatial energy flared, and a ball of violet light surged from the ring, sinking directly into Seito's eyes.
The group jumped back in alarm.
"Seito-kun! What happened?!" Maple cried out.
"I'm fine," Seito replied. When he opened his eyes, a golden hexagram pattern—the Star of David—shimmered within his deep blue pupils.
[System Notification: You have created a Unique Personal Skill!]
Skill Name: [Unnamed]
Description: Anchors your vision to a private sub-dimension. Allows for item storage and the ability to phase parts of or your entire body into the void. Can suck external targets into the dimension upon eye contact.
"Let's name it Kamui Space," Seito muttered, unashamedly "borrowing" the name.
[Skill 'Kamui Space' successfully registered.]
Seito felt the last of his weaknesses vanish. He glanced at his ring—it had lost its storage function and dropped to Blue quality, but the trade-off was a defensive skill that defied the laws of physics.
Seito turned to Sora and toggled his PvP status to 'Active,' even within the safe zone's boundary. "Sora, hit me. Full strength."
The others looked on in confusion. Sora didn't hesitate; he drew his black blade and swung a horizontal slash aimed right at Seito's chest.
Swish!
The blade passed through Seito's torso as if he were made of smoke. There was no impact, no damage, and no resistance. It was as if Seito existed in a different layer of reality.
The four onlookers were left in absolute, stunned silence.
