Chapter 265: "Freedom! Truly, how free!"

.....

"Mob?"

"The rabble?"

The room fell into stunned silence. Everyone was completely bewildered. We're being stormed by a mob? What in the hell is going on?

Thump-thump-thump-thump...!

Before the bodyguard could even draw breath to speak again, a thunderous roar of footsteps echoed through the hallway. A sea of "free" citizens flooded into the room, their eyes burning with a murderous, fanatical light!

"DIE!"

"HERETIC!"

"How dare you offend the Great God!

EXECUTION!!"

STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!

With a chorus of primal roars, the masses surged toward the Official .

"F*ck!" the Official hissed, his composure shattering.

Outside the hotel...

Countless onlookers stood outside, craning their necks to watch the spectacle. The hotel was now packed wall-to-wall with these fanatical devotees. Nobody had a clue what the hell was happening, but they knew one thing: this was the most prestigious hotel in the United States capital.

Just moments ago, these "believers" had clashed with the men in black suits. Fueled by their newfound, twisted faith, they had acted like kamikaze squads, pulling out guns and blasting the bodyguards to pieces.

The crowd of onlookers were caught completely off guard! But, you had to admit—it really was "free" here. Who knew so many random people were packing heat? The onlookers sensed that history was being made today.

"AAAAAAHHHHHH...!!"

"F*CK!!"

"MY GOD!!"

The sound of terrified screams erupted. Everyone looked up just in time to see the United States Official and one of the family patriarchs being thrown from the rooftop!

THUD!

CRASH!

They hit the ground with a sickening wet sound, dying instantly. The grotesque, twisted state of their corpses was too much to look at.

"Holy sht! Breaking news!"

"Unreal! I just came here for a vacation and I witness something this insane!"

"Fck! Our Official is dead!"

"That... that's the patriarch of the McAllen family!"

"And that's the head of the Hunter family!"

"Oh! My God!!"

The crowd went into a frenzy. High above, Seito watched the chaos for a moment before using Spatial Movement to vanish. He'd delivered his message; surely, no country would dare to act recklessly against him after this. Before long, the news of the Official's death would be trending worldwide.

Sakura Province(Japan), Chiba City.

The moment Seito returned to Sakura Province, he reflexively triggered his Spatial Perception. He had to keep tabs on any monster incursions, after all.

"Hm? Maple, you little..."

An amused smirk spread across his face as he stumbled upon something interesting. He didn't hesitate; he teleported again.

Inside Maple's bedroom.

It was a standard, cozy bedroom. Maple wasn't lying in bed diving into the God Domain game. Instead, she was sitting at her desk, engrossed in a video call with Shiramine Risa (Sally).

"Hehehe, just admit it~" Sally flashed a knowing, playful smile, peering at Maple through the screen.

Moments earlier, the two of them had been chatting. Sally had suddenly popped the question—who did Maple like? Maple had been stuttering, unable to form a coherent sentence. Her best friend, however, had simply cut through the chase and blurted out Seito's name.

Now, Maple was a blushing mess, her face bright red, unable to squeak out a single word.

"Umm..." Maple dithered, debating whether to confess.

Suddenly—!

A shadow materialized right behind her! Maple was too deep in thought to notice the anomaly in her room. However, Sally, watching from the screen, was momentarily stunned. But she quickly snapped back to reality, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she waited for Maple to spill the beans.

"I... I guess there is someone..." Maple whispered, incredibly embarrassed.

"Someone? Who could it be?" Sally prodded, keeping a straight face.

"Seito... Seito-kun..." Maple's voice was barely audible.

"Aha! So that's how it is!" Sally exclaimed, feigning realization. She smiled. "Hey, Honjou, want to see a magic trick?"

"A... magic trick?" Maple blinked, confused. We were just talking about something so sensitive, why the sudden pivot? Still, she didn't think much of it and gave a hesitant, shy nod. "Okay!"

"Great!"

Sally struck a dramatic pose, waving her hands in the air and muttering a string of nonsense syllables. Then, her eyes sharpened, and she pointed her right hand directly behind Maple.

"PRESTO!"

Maple turned around.

The next second, she froze.

"Huh? How'd I end up here?" Seito asked, acting completely baffled as he scratched his head. He was playing along with Sally's little performance.

"Sei-Sei-Sei-Seito-kun!" Maple jumped, terrified.

It finally dawned on her: Sally's "magic trick" was just a prank to set her up! Seito must have arrived long before she confessed!

If that's true...

The realization that Seito had heard every single word of her confession hit her like a truck. She wanted to die of embarrassment! How mortifying!

Seito and Sally exchanged a knowing grin as they watched Maple's face turn into a tomato. Seito walked over, scooped her up, and sat down in her computer chair with her in his lap.

"Umm..." Maple sat on his lap, her face practically steaming. She looked up at him, trembling. "Seito-kun... how long have you been here?"

"Oh, I just got here~" Seito chirped cheekily.

"He heard everything you said, you know," Sally added, throwing in the final nail.

With that, Maple's brain officially short-circuited. He heard everything? This is too much!

"Maple, do you know what it's like when two people like each other?" Seito asked, his voice low.

"Wh-what's it like?" Maple reflexively asked, looking up at him.

"Like this!"

CHOMP!

Seito leaned in and planted a kiss right on her flushed cheek.

Sally: "..."

Damn it! That's cheating!!
