Chapter 11 - THE SILVER SHADOW’S REIGN

The Kingdom of Kyo was no longer a city of stone and silk. It had become a living, breathing emerald nightmare. Giant vines, thick as castle towers and glowing with a faint silver luminescence, had woven themselves through the streets. The Royal Palace was now a mountain of flowers, its golden roof covered in moss that whispered whenever the wind blew.

Raizen Kuro sat atop the highest balcony, his white hair flowing in the breeze. He wasn't wearing his prisoner rags anymore; he wore a robe made of silver-threaded silk that seemed to shift and change like the mist of Shinkai.

He closed his eyes, his Wang Energy spreading through the city like a vast, invisible web. He could feel everything—the heartbeat of the terrified citizens, the growth of every leaf, and the slow, rhythmic breathing of the city itself.

"The border lords are gathering," a voice spoke from the shadows.

Yurina stepped into the light. She looked different now. Her eyes, once sharp and filled with a cold sense of justice, were now filled with a deep, weary wisdom. She had stayed by Raizen's side, acting as his voice to the people who were too afraid to look him in the eye.

"They have called for a 'Holy Crusade,'" she continued, leaning against a vine-covered pillar. "The neighboring kingdoms—Saito and Tenma—see this 'Garden' as a plague. They are sending forty thousand men, led by their High Priests. They think you are a demon, Raizen."

"Let them come," Raizen said, his voice resonant and calm. "They think they are fighting a man. They don't realize they are fighting a world."

"But the people here... they are starving," Yurina said, her voice softening. "The vines have crushed the markets. The rice fields have turned into flower beds. You've given them beauty, Raizen, but you haven't given them life."

Raizen opened his eyes. The glowing silver spheres that were once his eyes fixed on her. "Immortality has a cost, Yurina. I told them that. They can live forever in this garden, but they must shed their human needs. The Tao provides everything... if they are willing to listen."

Suddenly, Raizen's brow furrowed. He felt a disturbance at the edge of his web—at the city's Great Gate. It wasn't the heavy march of an army. It was something small, sharp, and incredibly fast.

"Ninjutsu: Shadow-Phase."

Raizen vanished in a swirl of silver petals. A second later, he appeared at the Great Gate, five miles away.

There, standing amidst a pile of unconscious guards, was a young boy. He couldn't have been more than sixteen, dressed in the black tactical gear of a Northern Assassin. In his hand, he held a dagger that pulsed with a dark, violet light—the same corrupted energy Vane had used.

"Who sent you?" Raizen asked, his presence alone making the boy's knees buckle.

"The... the True King!" the boy gasped, his teeth chattering. "You are a ghost, Raizen Kuro! A hollow shell! The True King will return with the black fire to burn your garden to the ground!"

The boy lunged with his dagger. Raizen didn't move. As the blade approached his chest, a silver vine erupted from the ground, wrapping around the boy's arm and snapping the bone with a sickening crack.

Raizen looked at the violet dagger. He could feel it—the energy wasn't from Shinkai. It was something different. Something artificial.

"The black fire..." Raizen murmured. He realized then that the Kingdom's scientists and priests hadn't just been waiting for the flower. They had been trying to create their own version of the Wang Energy in secret.

He looked at the boy, who was now sobbing in pain. Raizen touched the boy's forehead with a single finger. A wave of calming silver light passed through him, healing his arm and erasing his fear.

"Go back to your masters," Raizen said. "Tell them that I am not their enemy. But if they bring fire to my garden, I will show them what a god's rage looks like."

The boy scrambled away, terrified and confused.

Yurina appeared beside Raizen, having followed his energy trail. She saw the boy running and then looked at the violet dagger on the ground.

"It's starting, isn't it?" she asked.

"Yes," Raizen said, looking toward the Northern horizon where dark, oily smoke was beginning to rise. "The world isn't ready for peace. They crave the cycle of blood and ash. If they want a war of gods, then I will give them one."

He turned back toward the city. The silver emperor knew that his reign was about to be tested. The Tensen were still on the island, the humans were building a fake Tao, and his own human heart was becoming more distant every day.

"Yurina," Raizen said, his voice cold. "Gather the survivors of the Damned Twelve. The ones who stayed in the city. It's time to show the world that this Paradise has thorns."
