In his previous life, Shin had always been indifferent to love and such topics, he didn't like girls that were around him and their so-called love. But now in front of him there was a girl who was so beautiful for him that he felt his face heat up, and his heart beating faster for her.
Her golden-blonde hair flowed softly down her back like strands of sunlight, framing a delicate face that carried a quiet, graceful beauty. Deep blue eyes, clear and calm like the open sky, gave her an almost serene presence. She wore a pure white saintess dress that draped elegantly around her slender figure, making her look both noble and radiant.
" My soul is now inside you and your soul is now inside me, part of me lives in you now and part of you is in me. That means we are now soulmates never to be separated, given that we now married for eternity."
Hearing the warmth in her words and suddenly feeling her emotions that feels like happiness, he felt his chest tighten with warmth.
So instead of rejecting her " How do you feel about this?" He asked if she was willing.
Her heart softened at his words and her lips curved into a faint smile. Honestly, Mira doesn't know what to think of her situation. It happened so suddenly that she didn't think what she wants or if it's good for her or not to be someone's soulmate.
"I really don't know what to feel of it, but I don't mind and really won't regret my choice and won't blame you for anything that happens to me."
Shin was moved by her words, and he thought he was starting to fall for her. He wanted to talk to her more and ask about herself, her life, her likes, dislikes, hobbies and much more. He wanted to keep talking to her. However the door to his room opened and his mother Elara Silverheart walked inside.
Shin didn't have the time to admire her his vision suddenly got blocked by the blue fabric of Elara's gown.
His face between two spongy materials, he couldn't speak and just struggled to free himself, however feeling some drops on his forehead, he halted his struggles and just let her hug him tightly.
After calming herself down, Elara turned to Mira, her smile was small, but it carried the weight of her heart. Gratitude shone in her eyes long before her voice found strength.
" I'm beyond grateful to you Mira, you have returned the meaning of my life and I owe you more than I can ever repay."
Her sincere words and the bright smile on her face and her tear-streaked face made the innocent Mira feel guilty, that she had done something that is worth retribution not gratitude.
Shin who was released from her mother's hug had a small smile on his face and looked gently at Mira, " Mira I can't thank you enough for saving my life."
'And I'm also very happy to have you as my wife', he said to himself.
Mira couldn't meet her eyes with them, her stomach sank with the weight of it, guilt pricked at her conscience. Finally she stood in front of them and bowed her head down before them, tears threatened to fall off her cute face. She pinched her skirt and said in low voice.
"I'm not worthy of your gratitude, I don't deserve such praises."
Shin and Elara were dumbfounded by her action and were confused as to what she was saying, she had saved his life and for sure she deserve praises and much more.
"I've bounded mine and Shin's soul together." Mira said and then gathered her courage to look up to her guardian and just as she thought Elara looked at with a rather cold gaze than before as she understood what she meant to say but glancing at Shin who was still looking at her with confusion she understood she have to explain further for him to realise what she did to him.
"When we the "Saintess" of any particular goddesses or gods were chosen and given the extraordinary powers than other beings, it comes with a curse as well. The life of a Saintess is bound to end before thirty."
Shin was shell-shocked by her words, that means they won't be together after Mira hit 30 years of age.
"When they die another young girl was chosen as a Saintess with the same curse bound to them. That's why, I'm guilty for bounding our soul together, as from now on we share each other's soul we are forever entwined with each other."
"When you feel sad, I will feel sorrow with you. When you feel happy, joy will bloom in my heart as well. When you cry, my soul will tremble with every tear you shed, and when you laugh, my world will shine with your light. When you fall, I will fall beside you. "If you die, I'll die with you, and if I die, you'll die too, because our soul are now joint together we share all the things be it blessings or curse."
Shin was dumbfounded by the truth behind her blessing—no, her curse. It felt as though the gods themselves were controlling their lives. They granted immense power, yet demanded the remainder of one's life in return.
Shin knew he was being greedy. He didn't want these feelings to end, and he didn't want to see her cry ever again. Somehow, in such a short time, he had already grown deeply attached to her.
Shin stood up from his bed even though his muscles still hurts and he used the bed as support, he grabbed Mira's hand and said while squeezing her hands a little, "I understand what you mean, but don't worry I'll never blame you for anything. I'm grateful to you for saving me."
"I'll protect you, and I swear I'll find a way to end this curse."
Elara placed her hand on her head and ruffled her hair a little before saying, "Don't worry Mira, I won't fault you for anything either, beside if not for you my Shin wouldn't have survived. So thank you for you help."
She began to walk toward the door and said before leaving, " We'll think about it later. From now on you will live with us and you will become Shin's fiancée."
Shin widened his eyes and began to feel embarrassed that his mother has seen through his affection for Mira. He knows that Elara as a mother was very indulgent to her children She would never say no to her children—so long as what they asked wasn't wrong. So seeing that Shin being protective of a girl she immediately understood and arranged their engagement, the fact that they were soulmates played a big role as well..
Shin looked at Mira her face as red as tomato and her slightly parted pink lips as if she didn't know what to say. Her height is slightly higher than him right now so he has to look up to see her beautiful and rather cute face.
Mira certainly wasn't opposed to the engagement plan. Even if her fiancé is younger than her, she could see that he is a very kind person and seem to be interested in her. After finding out that his soul had matured enough to process things clearly as she can do, he really was as intelligent as her and would be very smart as her. 'As expected of her future... hehehe~'
Of course it's only her presumption.
"By the way, we don't really know each other yet, so tell me about yourself—I'd love to know more about you."
Mira who was in her delusion was suprised and thought that it does make sense that we should know each other better so that they can live a comfortable life in the future.
After that they talked about everything related to each other and made their sweet first conversation eventful and memorable.
Mira then started telling everything about herself excitedly, how she come to became a Saintess, how she met Elara in the church's first mission, when she missed her deceased mother the most, her likes and dislikes she was like an warm hearted and overly cheerful person who would open up to you when they feel comfortable around you.
Seeing her joyful and lovely smile and feeling her happiness when telling him everything about herself Shin's heart was filled with joy too. He told her everything about himself too, although Shin hadn't planned to tell about his previous life or anything like that when asked "Why does your speech sound so mature for your age?" However, he suddenly remembered many protagonists that held back their truth to the end of their life and kept everyone in the dark.
He at least wanted to share about himself honestly to his soulmate, so he calmly explained his story from his previous life. He doesn't want her to find out about it in an awkward or unnatural situation like how it usually happens with isekai protagonists. Especially now that they are connected with their souls they would know when any of them is lying to other many other things, as long as they cultivate their bond together they will gain many benefits through it.
After their sweet conversation ended as Shin started to feel sleepy Mira left his room with a bright smile in her face she was very happy right.
