Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: The End

Turning her attention back to the trials, Kaede noticed a few terrifying individuals. Sure enough, those who survived that training were no mediocrities.

However, nothing like what happened with Kaede occurred again, because after the previous incident, the Soldiers who came up next dared not let their guard down.

There were even two people who seemed to be friends; they conspired to face the Soldier together, but the result was that they were slaughtered without being able to put up any resistance.

Seeing this, Kaede's pupils constricted. Only then did she realize how lucky she had been. At the same time, she confirmed that the people here were at a level they could not afford to provoke right now.

If Kaede's level was LV5, then the Soldiers' levels were likely around LV20. This level gap was impossible to overcome in a direct confrontation. As for the Instructor... Kaede didn't know, but looking at how the Soldiers behaved, it was clear that the Instructor could slaughter them like dogs, and they couldn't deal with the Instructor even with numbers. Therefore, the Instructor's level was likely above LV50.

Such a level gap made Kaede feel a bit helpless. It seemed she wouldn't be able to resist them for a long time to come.

Soon, the trials ended. You might say there should have been 36 people left? In fact, only 20 remained, barely 20 people. Half of 72 is 36, then there were those who courted death by provoking the Instructor.

There were also those who launched a desperate counterattack before dying, ultimately resulting in mutual destruction, and others... They were all people capable of passing the training. If they were a bit distant at first, the subsequent battles were all situations where one couldn't let their guard down unless the opponent was thoroughly killed.

Many times, after those people knew they were going to die, they gave up defense, swearing to take someone down with them. Some succeeded, some didn't, but they certainly left their opponents with severe injuries, injuries on the verge of death.

And that was equivalent to death. You want to get medical treatment here? Ridiculous.

Even for Akame's minor injuries, it was just Kaede who helped bandage her up.

While bandaging, a trace of worry flashed in Kaede's eyes. What should she do next?

However, the development of events often exceeded people's expectations, and especially with this perverted Instructor, no one could guess how he would play his next move.

The Instructor walked onto the stage of the trials, kicked a corpse on the ground away, turned around to face them, and said, "You should be happy. You have passed the trials."

"Huh!" Suddenly, everyone widened their eyes. Passed? There was no second round of trials?

After realizing it, everyone erupted. Some even shed tears; pain could no longer make them cry, but they hadn't died, which was truly great!

The Instructor pursed his lips, feeling a bit displeased. If this Imperial Assassination Unit belonged only to him, he certainly wouldn't mind keeping only one person. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but look at Kaede, a smile curling at the corner of his mouth. What choice would she make then? She would probably still do the same thing and then seek her own death, right?

However, all of this came to nothing, as he couldn't do that after all. The Instructor's face darkened a little.

"Listen up, there will be no more training or trials from now on."

"Whoa!" Although there were only 20 people left, their cheers at this moment were no weaker than before.

Watching their excitement, the Instructor felt displeased.

"You can train as you please from now on. Next, I will teach you the techniques, knowledge, and rules of assassination." As he spoke, a smile appeared on the Instructor's face. "If you fail to complete a mission, or if you run away halfway..." The Instructor narrowed his eyes and licked his lips.

Seeing the Instructor's expression, there was no need for him to finish his sentence; the people below already understood what would happen. Suddenly, their bodies felt as if they had fallen into an ice cellar.

"Also, if you lose to people from other squads when you are on assassination missions in the future, hehe." The smile on the Instructor's face was very bright, but his words revealed a piece of information.

That was, this kind of training wasn't just happening here; it seemed there were many such squads.

"That's about it. Assemble here tomorrow morning. Now, dismissed!" After saying that, the Instructor walked away.

The 20 people walked away in a scattered manner, returning to their rooms. Looking at the empty rooms next to them, everyone was a bit silent.

Originally, the space for one person was only a few square meters. After the previous training, it had already become empty, and now it was even emptier.

However, what more could she be dissatisfied with regarding this result? If they had continued to fight, Akame's combat capability would have been affected. She herself was fine, but Kurome was still worrying; even if she didn't encounter her, she wouldn't necessarily be able to beat the others.

Finally, it was over. They had all successfully survived.

This was a happy thing, but no one could feel happy. Looking at the now-empty rooms over there, who would be next?

Would they be next?

"Akame, Kurome." Kaede said after a long pause.

"Yes, Kaede."

"The training must continue. Although there are no requirements, future assassinations will only look at results. Without a good body, assassinations are hard to succeed. In order to survive, we cannot slack off here." As Kaede spoke, a glint of cold light flashed in her eyes. Besides, she still remembered this battle, remembered the Instructor's smile. If she didn't continue training, how could she toy with him?

Kaede knew she was very vengeful, and unfortunately, the Instructor had touched her bottom line. She wasn't erupting now because she didn't have the strength, but this hatred would remain buried in her heart until one day it would fully erupt.

"Yes, okay, Kaede." Both Akame and Kurome's eyes showed determination. They had reached this point, and their Kaede was already working so hard, how could they not work hard? How could they let their lives be in danger?

If they wanted to survive, the only way here was to become stronger!

"Um, hello there." At this moment, a boy walked over.

"What, finished eavesdropping on us?" Kaede looked at this boy, someone who made her feel wary. From the very beginning, Kaede knew he had been eavesdropping on their conversation nearby.

"Huh!" Kurome and Akame also looked at the boy, their bodies tensing up.

"Uh, no, I just wanted to say I want to train with you." The boy scratched his head and said, "My name is Natala. You are Akame, Kurome, and Kaede, right?"

"Yes." Hearing Natala's words, Kurome and Akame both breathed a sigh of relief, while Kaede frowned, but eventually nodded. "If you want to join us, feel free..."

"Great, it's a deal!" As she said this, Natala flashed a bright smile.

This smile surprised Kaede a little. She was completely unaffected by this place, still wearing a pure smile. However, Kaede curled the corner of her mouth; she wanted to see how long that smile could last!
