Carter looked at Eldritch Knight's details. He had an urge to take the Prisoner and made it his main weapon. But in the end, he gave up on choosing it.
The Prisoner was a dangerous weapon, without a proper mind and training, it would be more harmful than useful to Carter.
'I'm thinking of getting skills or abilities to be honest. They are useful for everything. It is a choice between Will of Steel or Swordsmanship. Both were Elite Rank.'
Swordsmanship and Hand-to-hand Combat were great combat options but Carter prioritized them less. Each skin had its own way of fighting. Swordsmanship and Hand-to-hand Combat would be completely useless for skin like the Terror Wolf.
'What is this skill 'Formidable' anyway? I don't quite understand it.'
In the end, Carter chose Will of Steel.
[Eldritch Knight: Rank (Elite); Star Level: 1. Total Star Level: 21.]
[Host gains 21 Skin Star Level]
[Will of Steel (Elite) is retained]
There were a lot of corpses inside this hideout. Carter could easily blame the Terror if the corpses disappeared. This bloody scene was his little treasure. They were enough for him to feed a few Terror Skins to maximum Synchronization.
'Let me see. What kind of power do I want to retain? I need to pick the skin carefully.
I definitely need to maximize Terror Witch's Synchronization. I just can't pass on that Acting Skill.
Walker's Living Sense is pretty good. Terror Walker is weak because it is slow. But Living Sense accompanied with a fast Terror would be a nightmare to deal with.
Then… The final one. Hmmmm. Creeping Ability of the Creeper is good. It can help me track someone.
Terror Force is also a great contender. If an Eldritch Knight has Terror Force, he would be unstoppable.
Sonar Echolocation of the Terror Bat is also good.'
In the end, Carter picked the Terror Witch, Terror Walker, and Terror Man for Acting Skill, Living Sense, and Terror Force.
Terror Creeper also had Terror Force. Carter grafted a Terror Man to it previously. Its star level was higher also. But Carter wanted to keep it for later in case he might want to take its Creeping Ability.
[TERROR WITCH EQUIPPED]
Carter turned back to the pale Terror and began feasting. There were a lot of corpses down here. Once he finished retaining all of the three skins power, he might even be able to synchronize more skins.
But life wasn't that easy. The more powerful the Terror, the more corpses it needed to feast. Terror Witch alone required more than half the corpses in the hideout.
'Welp. I hope there'll be enough corpses for the other two skins.'
[Maximum Synchronization reaches]
[Terror Witch: Rank (Awaken); Star Level: 8. Total Star Level: 18.]
[Host gains 18 Skin Star Level]
[Level 4 Acting Skill (Awaken) is retained]
Carter stood up. His mouth was full of blood.
'That's one. Let's continue with the other two.'
Terror Walker also required a lot of corpses. Probably because of its huge size. There were only a dozen bodies left once he finished.
[Terror Walker: Rank (Awaken); Star Level: 5. Total Star Level: 15.]
[Host gains 15 Skin Star Level]
[Living Sense Ability (Awaken) is retained]
Finally, Carter equipped the Terror Man.
Terror Man was only Awaken Level 2. Luckily, its appetite wasn't as large as the other two skins and allowed Carter to reach maximum Synchronization.
[Terror Man: Rank (Awaken); Star Level: 2. Total Star Level: 12.]
[Host gains 12 Skin Star Level]
[Terror Force Ability (Awaken) is retained]
He returned as the Eldritch Knight once he finished. 'That was quite boring. Never thought that I could find something as horrible as this boring.'
Carter flicked his finger and checked his stats via the Prime System.
Carter couldn't help but smirk a little when looking at the status window. His plain stats finally looked a little bit presentable.
He exited the hideout to meet up with Arthur's group.
"Are you alright, sir?" Arthur rushed over worryingly.
"I'm fine, Arthur. The Terrors are cleansed. But I wouldn't recommend going down there at the moment. Terrors like bloody scenes like this.
Follow me, I will escort you to somewhere safe."
"Of course, sir!"
The second night passed. Carter found a balcony to sit on, watching the sunrise in the far horizon.
Arthur climbed up to sit with him.
"Not resting?" Carter smiled.
"I can't sleep, sir." Arthur shook his head.
"You can just call me Zen, Arthur. No need for honorifics all the time."
"I understand, Zen." Arthur nodded. "If you don't mind me, could I ask about your life?"
"What do you want to know?"
"What is it like to become an Eldritch Knight? How to become an Eldritch Knight? Where are the rest of you?"
Carter chuckled, "I'll answer your third question first. They died, Arthur. Most of us died."
Arthur trembled in shock, "But you are so powerful. How can…"
"These are foot soldiers only, Arthur. There are stronger forces out there. If our society doesn't straighten up, the end of the world will be near."
Arthur widened his eyes. There were so many things that he could decipher from Carter's words. Reality was so grim that he was too afraid to ask more.
"As for your first and second question. It's better if I show you."
Carter placed the Prisoner between them.
Arthur tilted his head in confusion and looked at the blade.
"Take me…" It spoke.
