With the new powers, Carter felt like he's experiencing a new world.
The Eldritch Knight already had very high base power. But his other aspects were very ordinary.
His perception wasn't that unique at all. But now, with the Awaken Perception from the Terror Wolf and the power of an Elite, Carter could sense far and clear.
The Perception of the Wolf was mostly a vision and smelling ability so it mostly affected the Eldritch Knight's vision.
He could smell things from a few blocks away. A death rat on the ground. A burger that someone threw away. Things that only the wolf could sense.
Then the vision. Now the Eldritch Knight could see everywhere around him. He had no blind spots at all. With the advantage of having a pair of perfectly ordinary eyes instead of the wolf's horrified spider eyes.
That wasn't the only thing. The Knight's hearing was better. Not as good as the Terror Bat but was still supernatural. He could hear whispers from the houses, the residents that were currently hiding from the Terror.
'If I can have Terror Bat's Sonar Echolocation, my perception would be even greater...' Carter thought to himself.
His other noticeable power was Living Sense. Carter could see faint red lines of living beings through walls. This included humans, all types of rodents currently running around on the streets, those cockroaches that would never die...
And a group of mercenaries hidden on the road up ahead.
"So... How do you know Zeneros?" Piper asked Nina.
"He saved me once." Nina raised an eyebrow.
"Are you his lover or something?" Piper said.
Nina exhaled tiredly, "Nope. Never think about it. Never will."
Neros joined in, "Where do you guys come from if I may ask? Zeneros wouldn't say."
"Well..." Quill sweated profusely, "I'm afraid I can't tell you also. Zeneros's order."
Then the Eldritch Knight stopped. Everyone stopped with him.
"What's going on, Zeneros?" Neros squinted.
"Call me Zen. We have incomings." Carter unsheathed his blade.
"What kind of Terror?" Neros readied his brush.
Piper took out her brush also. Nina and Quill both held handguns.
Nina and Quill weren't loitering around the last few days. They were able to kill a few weak Terrors while looking for the Ghost and accumulated enough Prime Coins to buy some weapons.
"Not Terrors. Humans. Mercenaries I'm afraid."
Neros and Piper frowned. They didn't understand why any human wanted to attack them. They were two famous Invokers and the legendary Eldritch Knight.
Nina and Quill were more familiar with deep politics so they already had a few explanations in their head.
A man in a green military uniform walked out to the street. He clapped slowly.
"Magnificent! We thought you were some kind of scammer. But that sense alone is valuable."
A pale man with a military buzzcut. He held no weapon on him.
"General Auschutz? Why are you here?" Neros said.
"To welcome our new friend, of course. He had been gathering a lot of attention lately." Auschutz smiled.
Suddenly, a sharp noise of piercing wind was heard.
Carter raised his blade and deflected a tranquilizer dart away.
"Tch. Tch. Tch." The Eldritch Knight clicked his tongue. "Very sneaky."
"Stop this at once, Auschutz!" Neros said. "This man is our ally!"
"No one has heard about his existence before. And now, suddenly he appears?"
Auschutz pointed to Nina and Quill, "And look at those two. We have a lot of them around lately. Invaders from another world.
How do we know he isn't just one of them?"
Neros wanted to object but he really didn't know Zeneros that well. The Invoker looked at Carter, waiting for his explanation.
'Show time!' Carter was deeply happy inside.
"Those two are invaders from another world." The white swordsman said nonchalantly.
"You see. He even admit it." Auschutz smiled.
"But my friend already removed their shackles. They have betrayed their slaver to join us. As for me."
Carter pointed the blade at Auschutz, "I have been doing nothing but slaying Terrors. It is my one and only goal. But you are here to stop me and try to subdue me.
Let's be real here, General. You aren't here to ensure the safety of humanity. You just want to secure another weapon for the government."
General Auschutz sweated slightly but he kept on his act. "If that's the truth, go with us. Show us your innocence."
"Really? A government that let this world be poisoned by Terrors. A government that let their citizens die and died every day. Without doing nothing about it?"
The Eldritch Knight smirked. A smirk with the utmost contempt. "You leaders with all your meetings and decisions but never once have you stopped the Terrors.
We have died. We died all the time. Without any acknowledgement. Without any appreciation.
And now you came to me and questioned my integrity?"
Zeneros took a deep breath.

"Come. I will strike down any evil. Even if they wear the same skin as my species."
General Auschutz shouted, "Attack!"
All the mercenaries stood up. All of their rifles aimed at the white swordsman.
Carter turned his head at the others, "Go."
"But..." Piper said.
Neros clenched his fist.
Nina and Quill already took flight. They knew trouble when they saw it and they knew they were nothing more than meat bags.
"Go. They can't hurt me."
Piper and Neros nodded. They darted out of sight.
"I have to commence you, swordsman. You have guts. But no man can escape bullets. Not even Terror can." Auschutz said.
They fired. And Carter moved. He stood his ground and he didn't run. His blade turned into paint strokes in the air. So fast that no one could see anything.
Mortal was the rank of ordinary living beings.
Awaken had the power that no Mortal could reach. But with a few bullets, Awakens could still die.
But Elite. Elites were different. There was a saying in the Prime World. 'Only an Elite can kill an Elite.'
The bullets were cut into halves. They sprayed onto the streets behind Carter but none touched him.
They had emptied their magazines. All thirty of them.
"How the hell…" A mercenary mumbled in fear.
Carter pointed his blade at Auschutz.
"Remember this name, evil whorshippers. I am Zeneros Blackburn, the wielder of the Prisoner.
I am the Raven Knight."
