Sairis's POV
"Are you okay?"
Candice's voice came from behind him just as he pushed his door open and stepped into his room. He did not turn at once.
He walked in slowly, his shoulders tense, his thoughts still stuck on everything that had happened in the garden.
He wasn't about to tell her that he was far from okay, or let her know the real reason why he had been crying earlier. That particular book carried a lot of memories that he would rather not talk about.
The sound of her light steps followed him in, soft but not rushed, as if she had all the strength in the world instead of the weak body she carried.
"Sairis…" Candice muttered in a tired voice.
Sairis let out a quiet breath and closed the door behind them. Only then did he turn to look at her.
