Loreen's POV
Loreen pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek. He could write the letter tonight. It would take him less than five minutes, and Lord Thorn would be gone and the problem would appear to be resolved.
But if he did that without knowing what had actually happened at that gate, he would be putting his seal on something he did not fully understand, and if it turned out that Lord Thorn was not telling him everything, that letter would be his mistake to own.
Loreen chose the latter.
He would wait until morning and learn what had truly transpired between Lord Thorn's men and the guards at the gates.
"I am sorry, Lord Thorn," he said. "You will have to wait until the start of work tomorrow. I need to see the report from the border guards before I can issue anything."
Lord Thorn's patience, which had clearly been wearing thin for some time, finally showed its edges.
