Chapter 93 - Eryndor

Loreen's POV

"How much further," Loreen muttered.

It was not the first time he had asked. It was not even close to the first time. The streets outside the capital were dark and uneven and the night air had a bite to it that the cloak helped with but did not entirely solve.

Kaid said something low and brief that got swallowed by the sound of their boots on the stone path. Loreen did not ask him to repeat it.

Then they turned the corner and he saw it.

A two storey inn sitting at the edge of the street, its sign creaking faintly in the night wind, warm light pressing through the gaps in the shuttered windows. It had the look of a place that had seen better years and had made its peace with that.

Kaid slowed beside him. "We are here," he said quietly.

They reached the door and Kaid moved ahead, pushing it open just enough to look inside. Then he turned and held up a hand. "I need to look through the inside first, your highness. Stay here, please."
