Loreen's POV
Loreen looked at him. He kept his face still and his breathing even and gave the man absolutely nothing to read.
Loreen knew that Valdermoor had eyes inside Eryndor. Every kingdom had spies somewhere in every other kingdom. That was simply the nature of things.
That was not a surprise. What was a surprise was how close to the truth their information was.
The salt stores were known to very few people. The decision had been made quietly, discussed in a very small room by a very small number of people, and yet here sat a foreign ambassador in a dim inn in the middle of the night asking about it like it was casual conversation.
Their network ran deeper than he had thought.
He looked back at Croft and kept his voice even. "I do not know where you heard that," he said, "but your information is wrong."
