Sairis's POV
It did not take Sairis long to find Edgar's office. After dropping the record book in his room and letting Henrietta know where he was going, he had walked straight to the king's office.
He had been there before, years ago as a child, and the path came back to him without much effort.
He pushed the door open and stepped inside. The outer office was busy in the quiet and focused way of people who had a great deal to get through and were not going to let anything interrupt them.
Every assistant at every table had their head down. No one looked up. No one acknowledged him.
Sairis stood there for a moment, then spotted Edgar at his table near the far wall and made his way over.
Edgar looked up as he approached. Something in his face eased and he stood from his seat. "You came," he said. "I was beginning to think I would have to go looking for you a second time this morning."
