The long ride finally came to an end as the public carriage pulled up to a stop in the snowy streets of the Eastern Province. Just a few hours ago, the carriage had made its first stop to drop off Pearl and Des, who waved goodbye happily as they headed off toward the Northern Province where they stay. It felt a little lonely traveling the rest of the way by myself, but the moment I stepped onto the crunching snow and saw the familiar wooden sign of my mom's bakery, all my tiredness completely vanished.
I pushed the heavy wooden door open, and the sweet, warm smell of freshly baked bread and cinnamon instantly wrapped around me.
