The cool night air hit my face the moment Malachi pulled me out onto the stone balcony. The heavy glass doors shut behind us, cutting off the loud murmurs of the shocked crowd inside the grand hall. Up here, the stars were bright and the sky looked completely still, but my mind was spinning in total circles.
"Malachi, let go of me!" I said again, tugging my wrist harder.
He finally stopped walking and let go of my hand, turning around to face me. His golden eyes were wide and full of so many intense emotions, and his chest was heaving up and down. He looked incredibly handsome under the moonlight, but I was too panicked to care.
"What were you thinking back there?!" I whispered loudly, waving my hands in the air. "You just shouted that in front of the entire school! Serena is a high noble, and your father, the King, was literally sitting right there on the balcony! Are you completely insane?"
