The white walls of the government facility loomed high and cold, reflecting the harsh fluorescent lights above. Every step Kai took echoed ominously through the empty halls. The building smelled of antiseptic and authority, a smell that promised strict order… and punishment.
He had been escorted here under heavy security—restrained, monitored, and watched at every turn. Axel and Leo followed behind, free but still under supervision, their expressions grim. The chaos at Nova High had ended, but the cost was just beginning.
Kai's chest burned—not from physical exertion this time, but from frustration. His hands itched to move, to fight, but restraints kept him tethered. He had lost control, crossed a line he didn't even realize existed, and now… he was here.
A tall officer in a sharp uniform approached, clipboard in hand. His eyes were cold, scanning Kai with the precision of a predator. "Kai, welcome to the government rehabilitation program. This facility is designed to… correct dangerous abilities and behavior. After your time here, you will emerge a different person. Compliant. Controlled. Efficient."
Kai's eyes flared faintly red, but he said nothing. Words were useless here. Actions spoke louder than any protest.
Axel stepped closer, his voice steady but nervous. "Kai… we'll get through this. We just have to survive."
Leo, ever the strategist, added quietly, "Stay calm. Observe. Learn. Don't let them break you mentally—they can't take your will if you don't give it to them."
The officer led Kai down a long corridor, passing heavy, reinforced doors. Each one seemed more intimidating than the last. From behind some of them came muffled sounds—shouts, cries, even laughter—but twisted, strange laughter that made Kai's stomach tighten.
"This is what happens," the officer explained. "Some don't make it out the same. They come in defiant… angry… uncontrolled. They leave… different. Stronger in some ways… weaker in others. You'll learn control. Or you'll learn obedience. Either way, you will not be the same person you were when you entered."
Kai's jaw tightened. He felt the pull in his chest, the anger, the pride, the fear—all mixing into a storm he could barely contain. He had survived battles, devices designed to strip him of power, and near-death fights with the Dragon member—but now, the scariest challenge wasn't outside. It was inside.
Inside this facility, control wasn't just about power. It was about mind, spirit, and identity.
He glanced at Axel and Leo, their faces serious but supportive. He wasn't alone—but even their presence couldn't erase the dread crawling up his spine.
Kai's eyes flared red one last time before the restraints tightened further, forcing him to his knees. They think they can break me… change me… make me someone else.
He let out a low growl. They have no idea who I am.
The heavy doors clanged shut behind him. Darkness, cold, and silence swallowed the hall.
And just like that… Kai's world became smaller, controlled, and merciless.
The rehabilitation had begun.
And he knew, deep down, that coming out the same person he was before? That wasn't an option.
